A few weeks after the Sirius Black incident, things had finally returned back to normal. Desiree now sat in potions class with Draco, trying to make a Shrinking potion.

"Remind me what we're supposed to be doing again?" said Draco, leaning towards Desiree.

"Did you seriously not pay attention to anything Snape said?" asked Desiree.

"That depends, do you want me to lie to you and tell you what you want to hear or tell the truth?" asked Draco.

Desiree playfully rolled her eyes, "You know, you're going to be the death of me one day."

"I think Pottah has a better shot at that." laughed Draco, "But let's hope that neither statements are true."

"Do you want me to tell you what we're doing or not?" asked Desiree with a slight laugh.

"Yes I do." said Draco, a small smile on his face.

"Alright then, stay on topic." she laughed. Desiree then explained to Draco the steps they were supposed to follow in order to complete their Shrinking potions. Very few members of the class had managed to make such a potion that fit Snape's standards. Desiree was among the few, as well as Draco, thanks to Desiree of course. As Desiree was getting ready to walk out of Potions Draco stopped her.

"Desiree." said Draco.

"Yes Draco?" she asked turning to face him.

"Thanks for the help." said Draco.

Desiree smiled, "Anytime."

After leaving Potions Desiree walked to the library, this time alone. She sat at a table peacefully doing her work until she was interrupted by a book being dropped on the table. This made her jump before she looked up.

"Did I scare you?" Cedric smiled.

"Very funny." she said as she playfully rolled her eyes.

"I'm glad you think so." he laughed.

"Now, what can I do for you?" asked Desiree.

"Go to Hogsmeade with me next weekend." said Cedric.

"Oo next weekend? I might have to check my calendar." said Desiree, a smirk began growing on her face.

"Someone has jokes today." said Cedric with a laugh.

"Ah well you deserved it for scaring me with that book." said Desiree, motioning her head in the direction of the book.

"Yeah I suppose I did. So, will you come with me?" asked Cedric.

"Yeah," Desiree smiled, "why not."

"Great! I'll see you in the great hall then, that morning around eleven?" asked Cedric.

"Yeah eleven works." Desiree smiled.

"I'll see you then." Cedric smiled, now walking out of the library.

Just as Cedric walked out, Pansy walked in. She rushed over to Desiree's table.

"Did the two of you just talk?" asked Pansy.

"Maybe." laughed Desiree.

"What happened? What did you talk about?" asked Pansy.

"Well it looks as though I won't be going to Hogsmeade with you next weekend." said Desiree, smiling.

"Really? That's great!" she smiled, "That's actually what I wanted to come talk to you about. Blaise asked me to go with him, just the two of us!"

"Oh Pansy that's wonderful! And about time." smiled Desiree, now hugging her excited friend.

"It is isn't it? Wait, what is Draco going to do?" asked Pansy.

"Well I suppose he can always go with Crabbe and Goyle." said Desiree.

"Oh but you know he doesn't like hanging out with them unless he has to." said Pansy.

"I know, I know. But this seems like a situation where he has to." said Desiree, with a pinch of guilt forming in her stomach.

"Well we still have a week to figure it out. Now come on it's time to eat." said Pansy, dragging Desiree down to the great hall.

After dinner Desiree sat in the common room reading the muggle book she bought in Hogsmeade. The time had seemed to slip away from her, for when she looked up she was the only one left in the common room. That was until Draco walked through the door, it almost looked as though he was upset, or at least had been upset before he walked back in.

"Draco? What are you still doing up?" asked Desiree.

"I can ask the same for you." said Draco, walking around the couches.

"I asked you first." said Desiree.

"I just went on a walk." said Draco. "Now, what are you still doing up?" he asked, now sitting down next to Desiree.

"I was reading." she said showing him the book.

"I still don't understand why you like reading so much." said Draco.

"Well I blame my Aunt, she would always read me stories when I was little." she said with a small smile remembering her Aunt.

"Does she not anymore?" asked Draco.

Desiree looked down at her book before saying, "She was murdered when I was six." she paused, "By Fenrir Greyback." she now looked to Draco.

"That's why the Boggart was- Oh I'm sorry Desiree. I shouldn't have asked." said Draco.

"No it's alright you didn't know." said Desiree.

Draco gave a sympathetic smile before saying, "Well then carry on with your reading. I'll just be here, sitting."

Desiree continued reading her muggle book, throwing frequent glances to Draco. He seemed to be looking at the book each time Desiree glanced over.

"Curious are we?" asked Desiree with a laugh.

"I don't know what you're talking about." said Draco, looking in the opposite direction.

"Oh come on. I saw you looking at the book multiple times." said Desiree.

"Oh fine. Maybe just a little." he said reluctantly.

"Well come on, I can read some of it to you." said Desiree, holding her arm up indicating for him to scoot closer to her.

"You don't have to do that." said Draco.

"Well I want to. Besides, maybe I'll get you to like books. Now come on." she laughed.

And so Desiree sat with Draco by her side, reading him parts of the muggle book she was reading. Before they both realized it, they had fallen asleep on the couch at each other's side. The book still dangling in Desiree's arms.
