The morning of the first day of classes Desiree awoke with a sense of excitement. She didn't know why but she felt excited to go to classes today with her friends. She had even gotten completely ready before Pansy woke up.

"Pansy wake up!" said Desiree.

"What time is it?" asked Pansy as she moved the blanket over her head.

"It's time to get up out of bed and start the day," said Desiree, now pulling the blanket off of Pansy.

"You know I really can't stand you sometimes," said Pansy as the girls began to make their way to the Great Hall, through the almost deserted corridors.

"You know you love me," laughed Desiree.

"Desiree there's barely anyone up," said Pansy.

"Ah but you see now we get first pick at the breakfast food," laughed Desiree.

"I don't know why I bother being friends with you sometimes," said Pansy sarcastically.

"Because you love her," said Blaise as he and Draco sat down at the table with the two girls.

"What are you two doing up?" asked Pansy.

"Well Draco couldn't sleep so he woke me up and we decided to come down here," said Blaise.

"Did you two plan this?" asked Pansy, looking to Draco then Desiree.

"Yes Pansy, because we both wanted to figure out a way for all four of us to eat breakfast together but not mention it to you or Blaise," said Desiree sarcastically with a smile.

"You are such an arse sometimes," laughed Pansy along with Draco and Blaise.

After breakfast all four of them made their way to their first Defense Against the Dark Arts lesson of the year. As Desiree sat down next to Draco she began to get an eerie feeling. It was strange she thought, for she had lessons in that room for four years now, yet something was different, there was a sense of darkness.

"Draco does it feel different in here to you?" asked Desiree.

"No, not any different than usual," he shrugged.

"Maybe I'm just thinking to much," Desiree whispered to herself.

"Draco do you want to start tutoring tonight?" asked Desiree.

"Why tonight? It's the first day of classes," said Draco.

"Well I just thought that the sooner we started the better it would be for you," said Desiree.

"Yeah, I suppose that's fine," said Draco. It was after this that Professor Moody walked into the classroom and began his lesson.

"Alastor Moody. Ex-Auror. Ministry malcontent. And your new Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher. I'm here because Dumbledore asked me, end of story, goodbye, the end. Any questions?" asked Moody, scanning the room. "When it comes to the Dark Arts, I believe in a practical approach. First, which of you can tell me how many Unforgivable Curses there are?"

"Three sir." said Desiree reluctantly as the rest of the class remained silent.

"And they are so named?" asked Moody.

"Because they are unforgivable. The use of any one of them will-" Hermione was cut off.

"Earn you a one way ticket to Azkaban. Correct. Now the Ministry says you're too young to see what these curses do. I say different! You need to know what you're up against. You need to be prepared, you need to find another place to put your chewing gum besides the underside of you desk, Mr. Finnigan." shouted Moody.
