"Is it nearly ready, Tails?" Penny asked, hopping on her feet in excitement as the fox tinkered with his machine. Tails grinned at her. "Almost. Like I promised, you will be the first person to test it." He turned around before glancing at her. "Does Sonic know you're doing this?"

"I thought for once I'd make the decision for myself for once," Penny said. "I'm ready to be of assistance for my favorite fox!"

"Aww, geez." Tails laughed nervously, his two tails twitching. "Thanks!" He turned back to the machine. "Ready to test it out?"

"Yes!" Penny grinned. However, when she turned around, she let out a startled yelp at the sight of one of Eggman's bees staring blankly at her. Thinking quickly, the kitsune grabbed a wrench and smashed it away.

Sonic's voice came over the communicator. "Hey, gang? Got a Bee Bot situation out here!"

"You're not the only one!" Amy's voice echoed.

"I can't get any work done on my Matter Transporter with all these distractions!" The fox grumbled in his communicator. When he thought the bees were gone, Tails went back to work. He grinned, wiping the sweat off his head. "Finally. My Matter Transporter is finished! Penny, ready to do a test run?"

"You bet!" The human girl grinned. She ran into the machine. Tails pressed the button. But to their horror, a leftover Eggman bee bot swarmed into the machine at the same time as Penny ran in. Tails yelped, covering his eyes at the blinding flash of yellow light.

"Penny?!" Tails yelped. "Penny, are you okay?!"

He could hear a buzzing groan and got into a fighting stance, but the intruder who stood in front of him was Penny, but she was, much to Tails' shock, a half bee bot.

"Did it work?" Penny asked in a buzzing voice.

"Uh...." Tails stuttered for words. He shook his head. "One thing I know for sure, Sonic is not going to like this," He handed her a mirror, and the girl completely freaked out. "I'm a bee!" She yelped, her human eye wide with fear. "I can't let Sonic see me like this!"

Tails patted her shoulder. "Hey, it's okay. Maybe no one will notice."

Penny skeptically looked at Tails, motioning around her body to her wings, half robotic face, and bee tail at the end. Tails smiled nervously. "Maybe they won't notice." He awkwardly tried to pat her back in between the wings. "We've got to meet up with the gang at Meh Burger anyway."

Penny nodded, allowing Tails to lead her out of the workshop.

"I heard Meh Burger removed artificial dyes from their food. Now their patties are naturally gray." Penny heard Amy say as she and Tails walked up. Tails smiled nervously at the gang. "Hey, guys!"

Sonic turned around, and his eyes widened at the state Penny was in. "P-Penny?!" Sonic yelped. "What-how?! Tails! What happened?!"

"Sorry, Sonic. A leftover bee bot from the last battle had flown into the machine at the same time Penny ran in..."

"You used Penny as a test subject?!" Sonic completely flipped at that.

"She wanted to do it at her own choice, not someone else's!" Tails said, trying to stand up for Penny. "It was an honest mistake! I'm sure I could work it out!"

"I told you this would go wrong..." Penny buzzed, glancing down sadly. Sonic and Tails stopped arguing and looked worriedly at Penny.
