New Year's Retribution

"Come on, everybody! These decorations aren't gonna hang themselves!"

Amy was clearly trying to decorate Meh Burger for the New Years Eve party, and let's just say that it was so far going according to plan.

Tails smirked at her, holding one of his inventions. "Oh, are they?"

The fox fired his machine at different places around the area, and pretty soon sparkly decorations were hanging in high places.

Amy frowned. "They still didn't hang themselves. Your machine did it!"

"Not cool, Tails!" Knuckles frowned at him.

"Don't listen to them, buddy." Penny smiled at him. "They look lovely!"

"Thanks, Penny." Tails said sheepishly.

Sticks frowned, getting in the way. "Take those things down! You're gonna attract bugs, and aliens, and kumquats, and list jokes!"

"Hey, guys, lay off him!" Sonic said, walking up towards the gang. As soon as he walked up, Tails' decorations fell to the ground. Sonic smirked at Tails. "Way to ruin New Year's, dude."

"Is that the holiday where a giant rabbit breaks into your house and hides painted eggs?" Knuckles asked curiously.

"Knuckles, that's Easter." Penny said. "Which is in 3-four months depending on where the day it's laid on."

"Knuckles, forget about your crazy holidays, and help me get this ball on top of that pole." Amy said, rolling the New Year's ball up towards them. Knuckles ran up and helped her hook it. When it was ready, Knuckles started cranking the ball up.

Amy grinned. "When it drops to the bottom, then it's exactly midnight, and the start of the new year."

Sticks popped up next to Knuckles, startling the Echidna, causing him to accidentally let go of the crank. "Don't trust her, Knuckles! I told you about the kumquats!"

Amy gasped, catching the falling ball in her hands. However, it was too heavy for her and the ball fell on her, breaking.

"You really dropped the ball!" Tails laughed.

Awkward silence.

"Not cool?" Tails asked nervously.

"Nice try, though." Penny smiled, patting his shoulder. Tails smiled back.

Eggman soon popped up, followed this time by his ball bots. "Okay, Ball Bots, let's roll!"

The gang launched into action, taking down the ball bots one by one. Knuckles punched two of them in both of his fists and tossed both balls at Eggman, sending him tumbling upside down in his mobile.

Eggman grumbled. "Oh, what's the use?" He turned his ship upright and flew off in defeat, popping sounds echoing from his mobile each flight he took.

Tails vacuumed the decorations up with his machine and shot them at the ball bot. Each shot caused the bot to spin around, and pretty soon with each flung it took all of the decorations were now hanging again.

"Wow, Tails!" Penny grinned.

"The decorations look great, Tails." Amy grinned, rolling the ball bot up. "and this'll make a great New Year's Eve ball!"

She and Knuckles hooked it up, and Knuckles cranked the ball up in place.

"Great! Here it is, New Year's Eve, and I still haven't fulfilled my New Year's resolution from last year!" Eggman grumbled as he walked into his layer.
