Mayor Fink sighed as he stamped papers. " Habeas corpus ... due process ..." He sighed as he accidentally stamped his desk. "Oops. Authorization to clean desk."

Hearing someone clear his throat, the mayor looked up to see Admiral Beaverton smiling down at him. "Ready for the fishing trip, old bean?"

The Mayor shook his head. "Oh, no, no, no. Too much approving to do. The town bylaws won't stamp themselves. Self-Stamping Prohibition Act." He stamped a paper and held it up. "See? If only there was someone to cover for me."

He paused.

"I say, if only there was someone to cover for me?

Pause

"So we can get the story started?"

At that moment, Knuckles stormed in, furious. "This is an outrage! A travesty! A plookypluck!"

The mayor glanced at Knuckles in confusion. " A "plookypluck"?"

"I made that one up," Knuckles grinned. "Rule of threes, Your Majesty. Anyway, I'd like this important law passed." He said, handing the mayor a paper.

"Henceforth, peanut butter and pickles shall ne'er be packaged in separate containers, as they inevitably wind up in the same sandwich." He glanced at Knuckles. " I can help you with this, but in exchange, I'll need something from you. Are you prepared to do your civic duty?"

Knuckles snickered. "You said "civic"."

The mayor nodded, not paying any attention to what Knuckles was saying. "Yes. Citizen Knuckles, I need you to stamp these laws with the mayoral seal between now and, say, 5:30, when the fish stop biting."

The two walked off, and Knuckels got himself comfortable in the Mayor's chair. Wild Cat popped in curiously. "Who's in charge here?!"

"I guess I am!" Knuckles said.

Sticks yelped as a startled noise woke her up. She ran outside to see a construction worker working on her land.

Furious, Sticks walked up to him. "HEY! HEY!" She tapped his head with the boomerang, and Wild Cat turned off the machine.

"WHAT ARE YOU DOING?!" Sticks shrilled.

Wild Cat showed her the document. "The mayor's office just approved construction of a new mall. See?"

Sticks scowled and crumbled up the paper.

Pretty soon, Knuckles was getting comfortable on stamping everything the citizens required. Fastidious walked up. "With whom do I speak about adding a new wing to the library?"

"Me'm!" Knuckles grinned, stamping the paper. "Approved! By the way, I believe the proper pronunciation is "library"."

"I'd like approval for a parade through town to celebrate my half-birthday."

"Half-birthday approved." Knuckles grinned, stamping the wolf's suggestion. Lady Walrus walked up. "I think this village should have moving sidewalks."

Knuckles frowned. "I don't know."

"Do you want to live in a world without moving sidewalks?"

"Excelent argument. Approved!"

Sonic walked in, followed by Penny. Penny raised her eyes at the sight in front of her. "Wow. Do you think Knuckles knows what he's doing?"

Sonic frowned. "No. Let's go talk to him."
