The remainder of the weekend went by in a blur. I was wanting to talk to Mood about everything but when I woke I I found a series of text of her apologizing and saying she had a last minute mission.
Since Mood was gone Claire and I mostly hung out and drank all night which may have lead to my dying my hair maroon and piercing my lip.
Honestly I had freaked out at first when I woke up, but after a visit to Starlight about my back the pain completely gone and I was able to settle down and actually ended up liking it.
But now its sunday afternoon and we were told we can't use the kitchen anymore. It wasn't even our fault that someone started a fire in there I was passed out at the time it happened. Sadly all recruits were given the blame since no one fessed up.
"Shining I got the things we need." Claire came in holding a frying pan and all of the ingredients we needed to make some omelets.
I quickly noticed that she also had a bag with plates and various cooking and eating untensles.
"Ok I'll warm up the pan while you prepare the food."
She nodded her head as she put a majority of the food into the mini fridge we snuck into my dorm about a week ago. I mostly kept drinks and snack inside.
Before long she began to cook the omelets while I focused on making sure the temperature was just right.
Before long her omelets were finished and my door suddenly opened. We both jumped at the sudden intrusion.
We turned to meet the gaze of a dumbfounded Mood staring back at us. She shook her head for a moment and sluggishly walked over to the mini fridge.
I quickly raised the pan slightly to hide my lip as she pulled put a bottle of juice out of the fridge.
"Do you want one?" Claire asked breaking the tension of the awkward silence.
"That sounds good." Mood smiled and sat behind me on my bed. "I need to eat and get some sleep."
Claire immediately went to work on her omelet. We made eye contact for a split second and we were surprised she hadn't said anything about how we are cooking.
"How did the mission go?" I asked leaning my head back slightly and hitting her knee.
"It went longer than it should have." She sighed before touching my hair. "It seems like you two had an eventful weekend yourself."
"Yeah." I awkwardly laughed and sat back up to focus on not burning the eggs. "I thought it was time for some changes."
Claire handed her an omelet and she silently began to eat.
I know Mood caught when I said changes, but she seemed extremely tired at the moment.
Claire quickly finished up my omelet before quickly devouring hers.
"Well I've got to go meet up with someone." Claire quickly stood up and ran out of the room before I could stop her.
I didn't have anywhere to put down the still hot frying pan so I had to eat with one hand while the plate balanced in my lap.
We sat in silence for a while. It was almost too quiet, so I looked over at Mood and saw she was starting to doze off.
"Hey Mood. Why dont you go get some rest?" I asked before setting the pan down that had finally cooled if a bit.
"I will."
"Good you'll need your rest since we have the evaluations tomorrow, so we can go back to training on Tuesday."
I stood up and took her dishes.
"I take it you had a really busy mission?"
"Yes..." She froze whennzhe looked at me.
I immediately knew I forgot to hide my lip again and she was staring at the silver stud in my lip. She let out a deep sigh as she put down the bottle of juice.
She looked like she was annoyed as she studied my face and it made me feel like I might have messed up again.
"We are gonna talk about that tomorrow." She was pointing at the piercing.
"I guess it will be added to the list of things we need to talk about tomorrow." I stated after taking a breath.
Before long she actually left my dorm. Afterwards I ended up having to clean up the dishes in my dorm and I decided to stash them inside one of the boxes under my bed.
*POV change to Melodic mood*
I barely even got to talk to Shining when we all showed up for the evaluations, because they immediately took her into the room.
I happened to be seated next to the door and it was left open just enough for anyone to hear what was being discussed.
I tried not to listen in, bit after a while someone spoke up and asked something that seemed out of place.
"Why were you so calm out of all of your teammates? Did you know that was going to happen?"
"What?" I hear Shining raise her voice. "Of course not. I only appeared calm I was trying not to freak out myself."
The room was silent.
"Since I've been here I've learned panicking doesnt get you anywhere. Especially if everyone around you is." She lowered her tone of voice slightly. "If I could have shielded both Mood and Reaper than I would have, but I only noticed she was a target before it was too late."
"Mood?" The voice asked in a suspecting tone. "Do you mean recruit Melodic Mood?"
"I do."
"And why did you choose to call her Mood instead of her name?"
Is that a trap question?
"Because she's my friend and that's her nickname."
Suddenly the door slammed the rest of the way closed. Almost like they were wanting me to listen in.
An hour went by before the door opened again.
"Recruit Steel you may come in."
He silently stood up and entered the room, but Shining never left.
"What's going on?" Lightspeed asked softly as she moved to sit next to me.
"I dont know."
"Recruit Lightspeed." A man called for her as Steel silently left the room.
"What's going on?" She whispered to him before standing up.
"Now Recruit Lightspeed."
She didn't waste another second and sped into the room. While Steel was walking past me down the hall.
"Steel where's Shining at?"
"She's in the room. They have her listening to something with headphones on." He stopped and turned to face me. "I was told to head back to the dorms, so I'm gonna go."
After a few more minutes Lightspeed silently walked out of the room.
"Melodic mood you can come in."
I quickly stood and went into the room to find Shining sitting in a chair patiently with headphones on. There was a doctor I had only seen a handful of times and Commissioner Fields sitting at the table with a woman in between them.
"What is she listening to?" I asked immediately as I sat down.
"Frankly we have no idea." The doctor shrugged and turned to face her. "I just told her to plug her phone in to them and sit quietly until I got to you."
I looked at her and she was staring at no particular spot. It was almost as if she were staring into a different world.
"She's zoned out."
"Good then I can talk to you for a moment about something important." Commissioner Fields groaned. "Afterwards we need your access code to remove her PCR."
