"El we have to go now." Claire said as she grabbed my wrist after appearing out of nowhere.

"Wait." Owen said grabbing my other wrist.

"Owen we don't have time to talk this out, but we need to split up." Claire looked him in the eyes. "Right now El cant get caught by the police."

The red and blue lights were starting to grow brighter as frightened teenagers were running in every direction.

"Owen we made this plan for a reason." Ethan placed a hand on Owen's shoulder. "You remember what her father said."

"Meet me at mama's diner at 11 tomorrow." He said before Ethan showed up next to us.

Owen let go of my wrist and Claire guided me out of the loading dock that was farthest from the doors right into the rain.

"I hope they get home. I had to get you out of there."

"Claire what's going on?" I asked as I tried keeping up with her to avoid being literally dragged across the ground.

"The truth is I called the cops to cause a distraction." She guided me down a dark alley way. "Did you not notice your bracelet is flashing?"

She stopped for beside a dumpster as I looked at my wrist and sure enough it had flashing red bell shape on it.

"I got a call saying you're in danger. They could tell we were together." She showed me her phone and it had a green flashing bell on it. "I have to get you to the school, but first I have to grab something." She disappeared.

I began to feel paniced as I noticed it was suddenly growing extremely cold.

I moved to where I could better see the entrance to the alley way while hiding beside the dumpster.

"A little bird said there is a new hero that might actually be a threat to me." I heard a woman's voice echo from the streets. "A hero that can create fire."

I realized the rain had changed into snow and the water on the ground was slowly freezing over as the mystery woman walked closer to the alley.

"So where are you at?"

Suddenly a hand flew over my mouth and I almost screamed until I realized it was Claire wearing a very brightly colored pink and yellow outfit.

"You're steaming." She whispered and handed my mask and black shirt. "Put these on quickly. I'll cause a distraction while you run to the school." She said while putting on a mask herself.

"Wait who is..."

"Frostbite. She seems to be after you." Claire cut me off before speeding off. "Hey popicle! Cant you just let a girl have one night to party."

"I'm not looking for you so just leave!" The mystery woman yelled at Claire.

I saw a giant icicle fly through the air towards Claire, but she managed to dodge it before sliding on the ice that was coating the ground.

I probably should have listened to Claire and ran to the school after I put shirt on over the grey shirt before putting the jacket back on.

Instead I knew I had to help her in some way when I saw her struggling to stop when she needed.

"I know the fire girl is around here somewhere." Another icicle was thrown. "I dont want to have to hurt you."

I heard Claire yell in pain and I ran to the end of the alley and saw her foot was frozen to the ground. I put my mask on and ran out to help her.

The woman threw another icicle at Claire before she even knew I was there. I managed to flame up and melt it the icicle while it was still in the air. Water fell to the ground soaking my pants and boots more than the previous rain.

"I told you to go." Claire yelled while trying to free her leg.

"What kind of friend do you take me for?"

"You must be the one they're calling the shining dragon." A masked woman dressed in a dark blue shirt and black pants took a few steps closer to me.

I didn't respond to her because I didn't know what to say.

"They're just gonna turn you into one of their loyal pets like the pest behind you."

"Dont talk about my friends like that!" I yelled at the woman as I could feel my fist begin to flare up.

The ice on the ground around me began to melt and turn into steam around us.

"Oh I'm sorry did I make you angry?" The woman taunted.

The closer she got the easier it was to tell how her hair was turning grey and how tired she seemed to be.

It almost actually seemed like she didnt come her to fight but that she had already been fighting all day.

"I dont want to have to fight you if I dont have to."

I threw a fireball near Claire's foot and it melted the ice around her. Claire ran straight over to me and the woman threw an ice ball that managed to hit me in the side.

My body reacted on it's own and I threw a fire ball at her catching her leg on fire.

"We have to go now. We cant fight her." Claire grabbed my wrist and used her super speed to get us closer to the school before she stopped.

The world was spinning around me while Claire kept me on my feet. She was currently out of breath herself which was surprising alone.

"Sorry it can be disorienting when it your first time." She sighed.

After the world stopped spinning I straightened myself out.

"El I told you to run."  She yelled as she stepped away from me with a noticable limp. "She wasnt after me. I would have been fine."

"That's definitely not how it looked when she was throwing that ice at you." I yelled as I began to get cold again.

We were both quiet as we saw a single snowflake slowly fall between us.

"We have to go now." Claire grabbed my wrist and began to force me to walk with her.

"Why is she even after me?"

"I dont know maybe its because of your power. She seems to avoid fire."

"I wonder if her powers are like Winter's Angel. Her nemesis was The Blaze and they constantly had a hard time fighting eachother because they were each others weakness." I might have been needing out just a little. "But his powers were more so explosive energy instead of fiery heat."

Claire just stared at me like I was stupid but possibly onto something.

We caught sight of a few more snowflakes and she pulled me behind a car with her.

"Come on kids. Its rude to disrespect your elders." Frostbite's voice spoke clearly  as if she were close to us.

"How is she following us?" Claire whispered as she peaked through the car. "Were gonna have to hold out until help arrives it seems."

She grabbed my wrist and pushed the red flashing bell on my bracelet and it turned solid red.

"Let's hope the heroes aren't too busy." She said as she guided me to another car.
