*Melodic Mood pov*
I was a bit disappointed that I wasn't able to message shing as much as I had thought, but after almost a month, I had enough proof to confirm who the mole was.
Almost immediately after I had filed the report, I was sent new orders.
'Thank you for your assistance during these troubling times. I am happy to inform you that you will be going back to Gergan City. You are to continue your duty of monitoring Hero Shining Dragon. During your absence, she has proven to be cooperative and a valuable asset to us over the past month. We worry that she has spread herself thin after continuously volunteering for missions and request you check in on her well-being.'
I was immediately concerned, but there had to be more to the story, so I continued reading.
'Upon your return to Gergan City, we have scheduled a concert for tomorrow night. Upon your arrival, you will be given the keys to the apartment off-base that you requested.'
"That's it?" I asked aloud, and I tried to find any sort of message.
After confirming, I couldn't find a secret message or anything. I called my sister to find out what it meant.
"I assume you received your orders?" Logos said as she answered my call.
"Hello to you too." I groaned. "Yes. Am I missing something?"
I quickly began packing the few items I had brought with me. One of which was a sweatshirt I liberated from Shining's closet before I left.
"That was everything."
"Ok, but what do they mean about Shining?" I asked as I closed my bag.
"She hasn't taken a night off since you left." Logos sounded like she was typing. "Sometimes handling up to 3 to 4 missions or emergencies a night."
I know Shining love being a hero, but even for her, that's a lot.
"Can you check her phone's logs?"
"Do you mean other than mission details and your messages?" Logos didn't wait for me to answer when she began searching. "There's an occasional message from a Claire Evans, but very few responses."
Normally, I would respect her privacy, but the more I learned, the more concerned I became.
"Does she seem concerned for Shining at all?"
"Yes, but she provides reasons for what is happening." Logos hummed as she read the responses. "I take that back. She provides excuses."
"Have you seen anything concerning?"
"When I've checked in on her, she seems to be handling her job fine. Occasionally, she seems to be taking some medication, but she's getting the job done, and the crime rate has dropped about 10% last month alone."
"What medicine?"
"I don't have access to the file." She groaned. "They really want it to be kept secret."
I could hear her franticly typing.
"This may take me a while to crack into." She sounded excited, and knowing her, she's excited for the challenge.
"Let me know what you find out. I have to get ready to leave."
She hummed in response before saying, "By the way, they are watching your phone tonight."
The call ended before I could say anything else.
I put away my phone and headed straight to the airport. The sooner I got home, the sooner I could check on her.
*POV change to Shining Dragon*
I had been searching through the mission logs, and I was growing irritated that there wasn't anything available at the moment. I had tried to volunteer for patrols tonight, but I quickly found out it was a training night, and I wasn't allowed to teach heroes in training yet.
My attention was brought away from my phone when a very enthusiastic knocking came from my door.
I shouldn't have been surprised that I opened the door to find Claire excited bouncing with her phone in her hand.
"Guess what. Guess what." She kept excitedly repeating.
"What?" I asked as I placed a hand on her shoulders to get her to calm down.
"Mood has a concert tonight."
"What!" I exclaimed as I took her phone, and sure enough, there was an ad for one of Mood's concerts listed for tonight.
"I already bought us tickets."
She took her phone back, and she began typing something in, and when she turned her phone back to face me, there was a video of paparazzi surrounding Mood leaving the airport.
"We got to get ready!" She exclaimed before she started going through my closet.
"I don't know if she's mad at me or not." I said before Claire threw a lavender shirt at me.
"You told me yourself her phone was being monitored." She sighed. "She didn't have much time to talk to you like she normally does. Plus, you were taking on so many jobs you missed some of the times she reached out to you."
"That's why I think she'd be mad."
"You're both heroes. I'm sure she understands better than anyone else it's easy to end up being too busy." She said without facing me. "Shorts or pants?"
"I dont know."
"By the way, we are meeting Steel at the concert." She said while tossing a pair of shorts to me.
"Who?" I asked softly. She forgot that I wasn't supposed to know his civilian name.
"Chris, sorry." She said with a soft blush creeping on her face.
I couldn't help but laugh at how she quickly changed from energetic to bashful just from saying his name.
Instead of teasing her, I decided to get dressed in the outfit she picked out.
While Claire was getting dressed, I took one of my pills. I knew something was bound to happen if Mood was going to be having a concert as soon as she got back.
After Claire was done, I grabbed my mask right before she drug me out of my apartment.
