Chapter 51

*POV still Melodic mood*

An annoying ringing woke me up as I realized a heavy weight was rested against my right side.

I opened my eye in a slight panic to find Shining sleeping against me.

The idea of waking her up didn't sit right with me so I cautiously pulled my phone from my pocket before I saw it was the commissioner calling me.

"Hello sir." I responded as I quickly answered the phone.

"You need to be at the court house in 2 hours. It's not optional." As soon as the words left his mouth he hung up the phone.

"Shit..." I mumbled and looked at the sleeping girl who had me pinned.

Shining began to shift her head against me. I kept watching her and she eventually moved and looked up at me for foggy eyes.

"Mood?" She questioned softly as tears began to form in her eyes again.

"Good morning." I tried to talk with a smile to keep her calm.

Her face froze as if she had just now realized she couldn't hear me.

She slowly pushed herself off of me and stared at her hand as if something was on them.

I carefully rubbed her arm before she pulled away and scooted a couple inches away from me.

I didn't have time to take care of Shining and get ready so I quickly called up Lightspeed.

"Hello?"

"Hey it's Melodic mood. I have something I have to do could you watch Shining today." I sighed as I watched Shining.

"Yeah I'll be right over there."

A few seconds later and there was a knock at the door. I cautiously maneuvered around Shining and opened the door to see her holding a bowl with some oatmeal and various fruit.

"I figured I'd try to get her to eat." Lightspeed softly smiled as she held the bowl up.

"Thank you."

"Dont worry about it. Did she wake up much last night?" She asked as she walked past me.

"She woke up a few times having a panic attack and crying."

"Our briefing was about what happened to her. The director said that her testing was hacked and she was forced to face a traumatic experience as they tried to break her free." Lightspeed quickly explained as she kneeled infront of Shining.

"Of course she said that." I muttered to myself.

"I'll take care of her until you get back." She sighed as Shining refused to take a bite of the food. "I wish I had the freedom you do here. I'd be able to care for her more if I did."

"Yeah." I spoke quietly. "Thanks again. I need to go get ready."

I quickly got ready before driving to the court house.

After I got there I was met by the commissioner.

"We dont have time to waste." He practically growled as soon as I walked over to him. "I'm going to prep you while we walk."

"Yes sir." I said as I quickly saluted him.

"There are two hearing today one is about the audio you sent me. Doctor Eric Thompson and Director Emory Quale will be on trial for endangerment of a recruit."

"What about Illusionary?"

"Your sister proved he was under the impression the bomb was inactive." He looked irritated that I didn't let him finish talking.
