Shining Heroes

Chapter 14

There was a loud crashing noise. We both looked back to see the car we had been hiding behind was kabobbed to the brick wall of the closest building.

"Oh shit..." I muttered before we moved to another car.

I looked at Claire and noticed she was limping even more.

"You're in no shape to keep this up." I said kneeling next to her.

There was another crash and I saw another car kabobbed on the other side of the road.

Claire grabbed my shirt and pulled me down.

"I have to get you to the school."

"Thats not an option if were being hunted like animals and you cant run." I stood up as I spoke. "Just make sure you dont get hurt."

I barely dodged getting hit with a chunk of ice once she saw me. I drove into the road where I was standing about 20 feet from Frostbite.

"Finally done running like a scared child?" Even from this distance I could see her smirking as clear as day.

"Who ever said I was running from you?"

I focused as hard as I could and made my hand flare up.

"What looking for to a fight now?" The woman began to walk closer.

I barely caught sight of a drone that came zooming towards us. That could only mean atleast one hero was on their way and whatever happens from this point on will be on HRN.

"If that's what I have to do. Then I will."

I decided to try to throw my fire again by punching the air infront of me and a ball of fire launched at the woman.

She slid on the ice beneath her to move out of its path.

I launched another fire at her, but I didn't see the ball of ice she threw at me until it hit me square in the chest knocking the air out of my lungs.

I felt as if I was slowly freezing from the inside. The pain was so excruciating that I had to lean against a car to remain standing.

"If only you weren't a child. You'd probably have been more of a challenge." The woman gloated as she walked closer to me. "But I cant risk them using you against me."

Before the freezing feeling could hit my arms I managed to launch another fire ball at her. This time she was too close to be able to dodge it.

She managed to shield herself from most of the hit with her arms, but stammered back from the hit.

"You really should take it easy on the children." Captain Whirlwind landed in between us. "They say children are the future of our world, dont they?"

"Hey kid get the other two out of here." Captain Whirlwind ordered someone.

"Come on." I felt someone pull on my jacket sleeve.

I looked over and saw it was the blue haired girl I ran into earlier today. She didnt looked very happy to be here.

She was helping Claire stand at the moment.

"Can you walk?" The girl asked, but it sounded more like an order.

"I think I can." I slowly began to walk along the cars as Captain Whirlwind seemed to be forcing Frostbite to run away.

Atleast I thought she was running away until Captain Whirlwind began form a column of wind. One of her balls of ice got caught in the path of the wind before it got launched towards us.

I tried to stop the ice ball with a blast of fire but I couldn't get any fire to form. In the process of failing to stop the ice ball I ended up unintentionally became a human shield for the blue haired girl and Claire.

I felt as if my entire being was freezing over and the pain was too much for me to handle. My mind instantly grew foggy as I tried to continue walking.

"Shining dragon are you..."

I passed out before the blue haired girl could finish talking.

When I came through again I found myself in a room similar to a hospital room except the biggest difference I noticed was it wasn't cold in the room.

I slowly sat up and a splitting headache struck me. I reflexively put my hand to my forehead. I was a bit surprised to learn I still had my mask on.

"Take it easy firefly." The blue haired girl was in the room almost like she was waiting for me to wake up.

"I take it that wasn't a dream then?" I groaned holding my head.

"Not unless you are an idiot in your dreams too." She said coldly before something changed her mood. "Thank you for taking that hit last night."

"Thank you for helping my friend." I responded with a smile.

"The doctors said the fact your body temperature is naturally high is why you survived." She sighed before standing up. "If that villain had hit one of us it would have been less likely for us to survive. Lightspeed was lucky that villain barely even got her leg."

"How is Lightspeed doing?" I asked cautiously so I woulsnt accidentally call Claire by her real name.

"She's at home resting from my understanding. While she got mild frostbite on her foot and a few fractures from trying to pull her foot free plus running while carrying you."

I examined the girl and was a bit surprised to see her wearing a red dress that appeared to be similar to the uniform shirts Claire and I had to wear.

"May I ask who you are?" I adjusted how I was sitting on the bed so I could stand up.

"I'm Melodic Mood." The girl quickly held out her hand with a smile on her face.

"They call me Shining Dragon."
