I carefully shredded the chicken I had boiled and added part of it to the pasta.
"Hey Lightspeed can you ask the director if she wants to meet us here of have us go there?" I turned to her. "I'd message her but my phone is dead."
"No prob." She was immediately sped out of the room.
I grabbed a fork and put some of the pasta on it.
"Here Mood try this." I said while I offered out the fork out to her.
Instead of taking the fork like I thought she would she just took the bite off the fork.
I noticed her jaw tightened a little and she smiled at me.
"I just have to keep it warm until they get back." I said while turning around to stir the food a bit more.
"What do you think?" I asked her before turning the heat down on the food.
"It was good, but I think I'll just stick with a salad tonight." She smiled as I turned back around to face her.
"Do you want some of this chicken for your salad?" I asked.
Suddenly a vow began to ring through the room.
"And I was honestly surprised that she didn't just want to cook dinner using her fire, but then again there is a higher chance of burning it that way." We could hear Claire rambling away to someone. I assume it was the director.
"That would be good, thanks." She mumbled as grabbed her salad from the fridge.
I grabbed four trays and added pasta to three of them and she added a bit of her salad to all of them before adding a decent amount to hers. I passed her remainder of the chicken in a small container.
"It smells good in here." The director said, but her voice sounded really close.
I turned around to see the director and Claire standing in the entry way.
"Thanks." I mumbled before turning back to Mood who was carefully cutting her chicken.
"Honestly I'm surprised, when you said friends I would have never guessed Melodic mood would be here."
After the director spoke Mood instantly stopped cutting the chicken. Her knuckles were white as she tightly gripped the knife's handle.
"What is that supposed to mean?" I asked as I turned back to face her.
"Honestly, I'm surprised shes made friends at all." Mood cautiously laid the knife down and I could tell she seemed irritated. "She's so closed off."
I grabbed two trays off of the counter as I let out a breath I didnt realize I was holding.
"Well she's a great friend." I said walking over to them.
"You do know it's her job to keep an eye on you right?" She spoke softly as if she didnt want mood to hear.
The director had already made me mad by upsetting Mood. I know Mood could more than handle herself, but this woman was offending her for no reason.
"I am well aware of that, but she's done so much more than just keep an eye on me." I handed a tray to her and one to Claire who seemed more than willing to just leave the situation. "She's actually been helping me learn to control my powers and being there to help me when I get lost in my thoughts."
I walked back over to grab my tray and I grabbed a few forks.
"Honestly I'm surprised everyone in this building doesn't want to be her friend." I said with out turning to face her.
Suddenly her phone began to ring. I only knew it was her phone because she has a very distinct ringtone that has four notes in it.
"Well ladies I'm sorry to grab food and run, but it would see I have an emergency meeting I have to attend to." She took a fork from he had and left us all standing there in an awkward silence.
"Why does she think that was ok?" I asked aloud breaking the silence.
"That was interesting to witness."
I looked back at mood and she had an impressive look on her face.
"You just stood up to the director of all people here." Mood said as she ushered us out of the kitchen.
"She is one of the people that can kick you out of the hero program." Claire said looking a little paniced.
We ended up sitting down a a near by table.
"I dont think I did anything wrong." I said honestly. "She was talking badly about Mood, and you know I people dont talk badly about my friends."
"That's noble of you." Mood said in a serious tone.
"Literally every fight she ever got into in highschool was because of someone hurting or picking on one of her friends, the same was with my brother. She'd actually fight the girls for him." Claire added after eating almost half of her food.
"What about yourself then?" Mood suddenly asked.
I immediately shoved food in my mouth and so I was too busy chewing to answer.
"Lack of self confidence." I glared at Claire for answering. "That's why she chooses to respond in french."
"Ok, we're working on that." Mood pointed her fork at me. "You have to stand up for yourself too."
I finally managed to swallow the mouthful of food, and I just glared at Claire for being so willing to reveal that.
"Dont look at me like that it wasn't a secret. Everyone knows this." Claire looked defensive. "At least you're more likely to listen to her help."
"I will get you back for this, just wait."
"Hey atleast I didn't tell her the thing from yesterday." Claire warned as of that was her secret weapon.
"You wouldn't." I warned, before I got distracted by Mood giggling at our little spat.
"Be careful Shining, I can't carry you away from every problem. Not like last night." Mood teased before stabbing a piece of chicken with her fork.
