Shining Heroes

Chapter 58

*POV still Melodic mood*

After the briefing the commissioner was back to being extremely silent as every recruit on base began to gradually file into the room.

The last two people into the room were Shining and the new director. Shining appeared to be keeping her head down and refusing to look at anyone. She quietly sat down in a chair near the only door in the room.

"Hey recruits, take a seat." He ordered everyone. "I'm sure you're all wondering who I am. I'm your new director, you can call me Matt."

"What happened to the old director?" Someone bluntly asked.

"Well there was an accident and she was resigned to another base." He lied without missing a beat.

There were a few murmurs through out the room filled with drouzy teens.

"But I wanted to brief you guys on a few things and introduce you to a dear friend of mine." He smiled. "This is Commissioner Fields he will be staying on base for a while and his job will be setting up your field days. Through out the weeks he will be occasionally watching in on your training sessions to figure out which groups will work best with what tasks."

The commissioner stood up and gave a short introduction about what he expects to see to determine future field day teams.

"Recruits Steel, Lightspeed, and Melodic Mood you will be on a team lead by Recruit Shining Dragon. Your hero will be Reaper he will inform you want you are doing on friday." The commissioner said while making eye contact with me.

He then continued to go through every group and what they were doing before the new director took back the spot light.

"Last order of business next Friday if the annual Hero gala, you will all be required to attend. You will all be given a five hundred dollar allowance so to speak to pick out a dress or suit for the evening. This is not am event to screw around with. You are there to learn about being a hero in a more relaxed setting." He turned his attention from the whole group and focused directly on shining in the back of the room. "Recruit Shining dragon you are to text Recruit Lightspeed and let her know."

"Yes sir." Shining mumbled.

I glanced back at Shining and she looked conflicted as she fidgeted with the wnd of her sleeves.

"Please Commissioner Fields is the only person you should be calling sir, think of me as your friend." He spoke as if he had planned out the interaction before he even came in here.

After the meeting was dismissed I turned to talk to Shining, but she was quick to rush out the door.

After about an hour of searching for her I found her sitting silently in one of the training rooms.

"Hey Firefly." I spoke softly to let her know I was there but she didnt respond.

I walked over to her and I saw her wearing earbuds so I cautiously moved infront of her.

"Hey are you ok?" I asked once she looked up at me.

"I'm fine." She mumbled.

"Are you sure? You seem..."

"Mood..." She seemed to check on her words for a moment. "I'm fine." She quickly stood up and left.
