Shining Heroes

Chapter 73

*POV change to Melodic mood*

Something didn't feel right.

Golem had been acting jumpy all weekend.

"Hey Lightspeed," I called out to the hyper girl. "Have you seen Shining at all?"

"No. Is something wrong?"

"She was supposed to text me when she came back." I sighed. "I need to go check something."

I quickly walked towards Shining's dorm and sure enough I heard the quiet meows coming from her room.

I pulled out the key to her room and Mozart was standing next to his food and water bowl that were both empty.

I quickly filled his bowls and looked around the dorm room for any sign of Shining.

I found her wallet and keys on her desk but her phone wasn't in the room.

"Something's not right." I muttered to myself.

I sat down on Shining's bed and decided to call her phone. It went straight to voicemail, so I tried again. This time it rang a couple times before it was sent to voicemail.

I couldn't shake the feeling something was wrong, but I didn't have any proof.

Suddenly Mozart jumped into my lap. I was surprised especially since he still had his cast on his leg, but he acted like it wasn't even there.

He quickly made himself comfortable in my lap while I just stared at him.

"Um..."

He pressed his nose against my wrist and began to pur. After a few seconds he began to nuzzle against my hand.

"I'm not sure what you are wanting."

I carefully moved my hand and began to pet his head which made him pur even louder.

After a while he abruptly got up and moved to sleep on Shining's pillow.

Now that my hands were free I texted shining's phone.

'Shining I need you to call me.'

After my phone confirmed the message had sent I decided to call the older of my two sisters.

"Hello sister, what's up?" Almost immediately she answered the call.

"Hey I need a favor." I said with a sigh. "I need the security footage for Friday night up until today."

Instantly her end of the line went silent.

"Do you only want footage from on base?" She asked after a minute.

"Start off looking on base." I looked around her room and it was too still. "I need anything you can find on Shining Dragon."

She didn't say anything for a few minutes.

"She never came back on base." She said softly. "Let me check the school's footage real quick."

I could faintly hear the sound of tapping, before hearing her chuckle.

"What is it?"

"It would seem someone knew someone would go looking through the footage." She began to type faster than before. "Whoever did this didn't want this to be recovered, but lucky for you I know what I'm doing."

"How long is it going to take to recover it?"

"It's hard to tell, whoe or made this set up a mimic fail safe." She sounded extremely amused. "The patterns get longer and faster the longer you work. I'm assuming it will be permanently wiped if I miss a single one. I need to focus and that cat you have purring is distracting, so I'm going to hang up."
