Shining Heroes

Chapter 67

The dress began to feel tight on my legs as I tried to readjust how I was sitting to be more 'lady' like while we rode to where the gala was being held.

"Ugh I'm already regretting betting against you." I groaned to Mood who was silently driving the car.

"Wait that's why you're wearing a dress?" Claire asked with a huge smile.

"It was her idea." Spark added with a laugh.

I made eye contact with Mood for a split second in the rear view mirror before she turned her attention back to the road.

I noted that Steel was also extremely quiet right now just staring put the passenger side window. He never said who he had asked to be his date, just that they said no. He seemed to be quiet upset about it though.

"Hey Steel, I'm sorry about your date."

"Its fine." He mumbled. "She wanted to go with someone else."

He went back to looking out the window and Claire began to pestering me about details about the bet I lost until we pulled up to the red carpet of the gala.

"Ok when I pull up a valet will come and park the car for us." She seemed to be slightly irritated while she spoke. "Shining please dont do anything reckless tonight and please stay calm."

Does she know something is going to happen? Or maybe it's because Hydron is going to be here.

"I'll try my best." I said while taking a deep breath.

"Most of all dont forget to have fun." Spark added enthusiastically.

As soon as she parked I was greated by a wave of flashing lights before I stepped out and held the door open for Claire. Who ended up walking a head of me.

"You cant let your girl walk in alone now can you?" Mood sounded even more irritated than before.

I was still confused as to why she was saying stuff like this.

I silently nodded my head and ran over to Claire and linked arms with her.

"I thought you didnt' want the attention?" She whispered looking confused.

"People think I'm bringing you as a date remember." I whispered as I began to guide her inside.

'At least I think that's why Mood sent me after her...'

Various heroes were being interviewed by reporters as we walked down the carpet.

"Shining Dragon!" One reporter managed to grab my attention with her hot pink suit that hurt my eyes to stare at.

"Yes?" I asked softly as I guided Claire over to her.

"How does it feel to have become one of the top heroes in such a short time?" She asked almost at a shouting level.

"Honestly I didn't realize I had climbed up the high." I answered and Claire squeezed my arm a little. "I've just been to caught up in work to really notice."

"So introduce us you your lady friend here." A different reporter said but they all agreed.

I forgot that only HRN actually interviewed Lightspeed so far. I'm sure she'd like to talk about herself though.

"Would you like to introduce yourself Lightspeed?" I turned to Claire while forcing myself not to laugh that they called her my lady friend.

I zoned out a bit while they were questioning Claire but tried my best to keep a smile on my face and respond when I needed to.
