Often, people get obsessed with things... Or people. I, for example, am 'obsessed' with meat. My sister on the other hand, is someone who's obsessed with a person. I never knew that this would happen, but it showed she is obsessed with him. Obsessed with the Avatar, obsessed with her best friend.
I knew from the start he liked her, but never knew how non one sided it was. Over time, I've seen how she looks at him. She doesn't look at him like a normal boy two years younger than her, not that she met any. Aang was always special... For being the Avatar, and personality wise. Yet, Katara still fell for him. And when I say she fell hard, I mean extremely hard.
I've seen how she's looked at Jet, Zuko or Haru. It's nothing compared to how she looks at the young air bender, she looks at him like a lover... Not an enemy, friend or sister. It was different, and to be honest... Her obsession with him, it's a good obsession. He makes her happy, and she makes him happy back.
