can't shut my heart up

Violet POV

             This is amazing...she's actually...flying, i'm on their back...the sky and stars are so pretty up here above the clouds...the sounds of Ruby's huge wings flapping every so often is the only thing i can hear

R: s-so uh...i didn't see you with a purse

V: i didn't bring it

R: phone?

V: nope...i just wanted a break from everything

R: ...won't your siblings be worried?

V: maybe...but i don't care

R: ...what if they think i like...kidnapped you or something?

V: then i'll explain when we come back that i wanted to go

R: hm...*sigh* okay

               I carefully move my hands off her chains and put my arms around her neck. They look at me weird

V: it feels safer to hold on like this

R: well um then...here trust me okay?

V: ok-

           She drops down and i'm falling thru the sky for a moment. Then i feel a thud and open my eyes. I see i landed on Ruby's chest and she's flying back side down. They wrap their arms around me...this feels much safer

R: better?

V: m-much

R: it's also kinda easier on my wings is all

V: oh 

            She flips us so she can fly back side up again and holds me hard

V: s-so do you do this a lot?

R: only once in a while...i found a like old abandoned camping ground on the mountains past the desert and decided it was a good place to go when i needed to be alone...we should be there soon

V: ...ruby?

R: yeah?

V: do you...generate heat?

R: yeah...i can like make fire and stuff so i'm amorally making my own heat cus of that

                I knew it...she actually does it, which is why even during x-mas they never needed jackets or anything...i bring my head closer to her chest...it's warm, almost hot but not quite 

R: ight...hold on

               They grip me harder and go into a dive. They wrap their wings around us to be more aerodynamic. After a while she opens her wings again. I hear a thud and they let go of me...i turn around and see a cabin...needs some cleaning up and maybe paint

R: welp...here's my home away from home...it's getting dark come on

                They walk to the cabin and i turn around again...i can see the town in the distance. I hear a loud sigh like sound and walk to the cabin. I see Ruby breathing some fire under a pot in the kitchen...the inside of this place is much more well kept then the outside. I notice Ruby retracted their wings

R: uh i don't have much real food up here...normally i don't expect guests...so uh...popcorn?

V: *chuckle* that'll be fine

                   I walk to the next room and see a mattress on the floor with a mess of blankets of it almost like a nest. There is also a tv and a bookcase of vhs tapes...i turn it on and put in the only wholesome movie there seems to be...beauty and the beast. I turn it on and soon Ruby comes in with popcorn

R: uh here...i'll be outside

V: oh...okay

Ruby POV

                   I walk out and climb up the ladder of the the signal tower a couple feet away from the cabin...i sit at the top and look down...i could so easily just make everyone's lives better by simply leaning forward and not opening my wings...i look up at the starry sky

R: *sigh*...i can't do it...not yet at least

                   I stay there for a while...time passes...it has to be around twelve now. I jump down and walk back into the cabin and see Violet asleep in the bed...she's kinda cute like that. I take off my clothes and change into some sweatpants and large shirt i had...she's shivering in her sleep...it's not like the blankets are warm or i have a heater or whatever so i get it...she turns in her sleep again and then sits up rubbing her arms

V: *gasp* oh r-ruby i-it's just you

R: ...you cold?

V: o-only a l-little bit

R: yeah sorry this place don't really have power and i'd light a fire but like...me plus fire plus houses don't go well unless it's cooking 

                    ...after all...what? you thought Phoenix burned down her own house?
