11 Years Later...
As a finishing touch for the beautiful tray I just made, I placed a single daisy from our garden outside in a little vase at put it at the corner of the tray. I grinned as I looked at the complete tray.
He was going to love it..
I picked up the tray with the nice breakfast I just made for him and carefully walked upstairs with it, being sure not to drop anything.
When I got upstairs, before going into our room, I knocked on Dylan's door before opening it, knowing both of the boys were in there. Both of them were sitting in Dylan's bed together, holding a few crayons.
"Come on boys. You have your presents ready?" I asked them both with a big smile on my face as I looked at them. Both of them excitedly stood up and proudly held out their cute little cards they just made, their little dimples prominent on their cheeks. "Ok, come on." I said, my smile growing as I stepped aside.
Both of them left their bedroom and I followed behind them as we walked to our bedroom.
"Remember, quiet." I told them both quietly as I slowly opened the door. Both of them excitedly but quietly rushed over to his side of the bed, where he was still sleeping. I walked over there as well, the tray in both of my hands. My smile grew when I looked at him asleep.
"Ok, go wake up daddy." I whispered to both of the boys excitedly.
Both of our boys excitedly jumped onto the big bed, shaking him while saying, "Happy birthday daddy!" with big smiles on their faces. I giggled as I watched them.
He woke up quickly, his eyes squinting open and looking at them. He smiled right away, making me giggle even more. With that signature grin on his face, he sat up, grabbed both of them and pulled them onto his lap, hugging them as they all laughed.
As they both hugged him, he looked up at me, still while smiling. My smile softened as I looked back at him.
"Happy birthday.." I said quietly, looking into his eyes. He glanced down at the tray in my hands and his smile grew before looking back at me. "Thank you.." He said back quietly.
I put the tray down on the night stand then sat on the side of the bed.
"Why don't you two show him your presents?" I said while smiling as I looked down at both of them, shaking Easton's hair. Both of them moved off his lap and sat beside him as they held out their handmade cards with big smiles on their faces. "Wow! These look amazing!" He said with a big smile as he grabbed both of the cards from them.
He looked at Dylan's first.
"This is a great card buddy. I love it. Thank you." He said to Dylan while smiling, his hand going on the back of his head as he hugged him again, kissing the top of his head. "You're welcome!" Dylan said back excitedly, once again making me giggle.
Next, he grabbed Easton's card, opening it and reading it.
"Wow, you're a real artist there, huh? Thanks E." He said with a chuckle as he side-hugged Easton, his eyes still on the card. "You're welcome. I love you!" Easton said happily as he looked up at him while they hugged. "I love both of you guys so much." He said back, pulling Dylan into a hug as well. I couldn't stop smiling as I looked at them.
After they hugged, Dylan and Easton got off the bed.
"Alright guys. Go play for ten minutes and then you have to get ready. I put out your outfits on your closet doors. ok?" I told them both while smiling as I also stood up. Both of them nodded.
I walked them out of our room then shut the door behind them.
After that, I turned back to him as I leaned back against the door. Both of us smiled softly as we looked at each other. He waved me over subtly with his hand.
