After about maybe a minute, Roni took my hand and led me back into the house. We walked upstairs and into my room.
I sat against the headboard and she sat right beside me, her arms around me. My head fell onto her shoulder as I couldn't seem to stop a small amount of tears from falling from my eyes. One of her hands moved into my hair, very gently and slowly playing with it as my arm went around her waist.
"Jack it's ok, she'll be ok..." Roni whispered, her voice sounding like it was shaking a bit, her hand cupping one side of my face. I looked up at her, tears filling my eyes. She had tears in her eyes too. "Y-You don't know that..." I whispered back, trying my best to stop the tears at this point. "Just wait until your dad comes home and then you'll get to go over there and see for yourself.." She spoke quietly and comfortingly.
"Why's he taking so fucking long.." I mumbled, really beginning to get impatient as I looked back down. "Try to relax, baby.. I know, I know that's really hard to do right now but stressing over it so much will only make this harder for you..." She explained, her hand going back into my hair. I took a deep breath as I tried my hardest to do as she said.
"Here, lie down with me and close your eyes." She told me with a hint of a smile. So we both laid down and I rested my head on her chest, one of my arms around her waist as I closed my eyes. She had one of her arms around me as well, her other hand continuously running her fingers through my hair which helped calm me down a little bit.
We laid there together in silence for a while, just trying to stay calm. Luckily I wasn't crying anymore either.
After what felt like forever but was actually only twenty minutes, we heard the front door open downstairs. I immediately opened my eyes and sat up. Roni sat up as well.
"Come on." I said quickly, grabbing Roni's hand and standing up. She stood up as well and right away I began pulling her downstairs with me. As we were on our way to the front door, I heard my dad calling for me multiple times. Mom most likely told him everything.
"Come on, we gotta go." Dad told me quickly once we got to him. After that, he left to his car again. Roni and I got on our shoes quickly then headed out the door.
"Text me everything as soon as you can." Roni said as she slowly began taking small steps backwards towards her house so she was still facing me. "What? No, you're coming with us." I told her firmly as I grabbed her wrist. "Jack, it seems like a family thing.." She said quietly. "I don't care, you are family." I said, turning back around and beginning to pull her. "Jack, I'm serious! Go without me." She said quickly. "I'm not going without you. Now come on, we have to hurry." I said firmly, still trying to pull her. "It's out of place for me to go! Just go without me!" She raised her voice.
"I need you Roni!" I raised my voice even louder, a tear falling down my cheek as I turned back to her. She was silent for a few short seconds, her facial expression softening as she looked genuinely upset for me when she saw my face. "It's ok Jack, I'm here for you.." She spoke quietly as she walked up to me and hugged me tight. I hugged her just as tight. I took a couple deep breaths to try and keep myself from crying because I felt the feeling building up again. Luckily I managed to stop myself from crying.
"Come on, let's go." She said as she pulled back from the hug a couple seconds later. She grabbed my hand and we went to the car. We sat beside each other in the back. The entire ride there, I was holding Roni's hand super tight.
After a ten minute ride, we finally got to the hospital. We followed my dad quickly inside the hospital and to the front desk. He told the receptionist Paisley's full name and the woman told us where she was. We pretty much ran through the halls.
