The Next Day...
I was REALLY stressed out the moment I woke up because I right away remembered that today I was going to be having my first soccer practice. The only way being on the soccer team would ever be fun is if I made at least one friend. But I was literally awful at making friends!
Ugh, this was going to be difficult...
I got out of bed then went to my closet to get dressed. I got dressed in some grey sweatpants along with a teal, slightly cropped t-shirt. I put my hair half up half down, brushed my teeth then went outside to meet up with Jack.
"So, excited for practice today?" He said with a big smile as we began walking to the bus stop. "If you know me at all then you should know I'm anything but.." I said while sighing as we began walking to the bus stop.
"Haven't you learned from everything else you've been worried about so far that you'll be fine?" He said while chuckling as his hands went in the pockets of his sweats. "This is different! If I don't make friends on this team then I'm literally gonna regret joining for the rest of the year!" I explained. "Well you managed to make friends in all your other classes so of course you'll make a friend in a group of people with the same hobby as you." He shrugged. "I guess.. I mean I hope so.." I sighed again.
Drama...
So the teacher pretty much allowed us to work in the staircase everyday by now so after the teacher did attendance, Jeremy and I went to the staircase again.
But the entire time I just couldn't give my full attention to rehearsing. I just couldn't stop thinking about soccer practice next period during lunch.. Because my mind was so occupied, eventually Jeremy caught on.
After finishing our third run-through, Jeremy spoke up.
"Roni, let's take a short break. Come sit here." He grabbed my hand and lead me to sit and one of the stair steps beside him.
"Are you ok? You seem a little out of it today." Jeremy asked me sweetly, turning to me a little bit and still subconsciously holding my hand right over his knee.
"Uh, yeah sorry. I-I just have my first soccer practice today and I'm really stressed about it.." I sighed, my other hand going on my forehead. "What are you so stressed for? That sounds fun." He said, sounding a little bit excited for me. "It would be for a normal teenager that doesn't have social issues. But me, I've always had this issue with making friends and if I can't make friends on the team, the rest of my freshman year will just be a pain." I explained, worrying myself even more by talking about it.
"You really think you'll, have a hard time making friends?" He said with a small chuckle, putting emphasis on, 'you'll'. "What's that supposed to mean?" I asked him, furrowing my eyebrows and chuckling as well. "Come on Roni, have you met yourself? You're literally one of the nicest and funniest people I've met, who wouldn't wanna be friends with you?" He told me while smiling. "Thank you, Jeremy but.. you have no idea, I'm really shy. I don't even know how I became friends with you honestly." I told him.
"Well," Jeremy looked straight into my eyes and I did the same for him, our eyes immediately locking as I felt his other hand go over my hand that he was already holding. "I'm really glad I got to know the real you.. I think your pretty great..." His voice was quiet and soft as we continued to stare straight into each other's eyes. A soft smile formed on my lips, hearing what he said.
And suddenly, his very deep, dark blue eyes were the only things I could look at. His eyes stayed intensely on mine as well. I felt his hand hold onto mine slightly tighter as well but I barely even acknowledged it as I continued to focus on his eyes and his eyes only.
