Monday...
I got out of bed after shutting off my alarm and went to my closet to get dressed.
I put on a navy blue cropped t-shirt with black denim shorts. I put my hair into a high messy bun, brushed my teeth, then went to school with Jack.
Philosophy...
Like usual, I went to class and sat at my seat beside Alena. We greeted each other with smiles.
I remembered last week Lucas said he would be officially asking out Alena early this week. Maybe that was today. Either way, I wanted to secretly find out.
"So have you and Lucas been going on many dates?" I asked Alena with a smile. "Yeah, but surprisingly none this weekend." Alena shrugged, also smiling. "Oh. Well, any tonight?" I asked her, trying to sound nonchalant. She shook her head, meaning no.
Huh. That was weird.. Maybe tomorrow..?
Lunch...(Alena's P.O.V)
When lunch ended, Roni and I walked out of the room together but went our separate ways from there. I took my time heading downstairs to the first floor. Once I got down there, I began walking through the atrium and towards the cafeteria.
Near the cafeteria but still in the atrium, there were three couches against the wall.
Before I even got to the couches, I could see like more than ten of one of the popular groups in the school standing and sitting by the couches. Two of the people were Ema and Dara. Even that girl Anabelle was there but she looked kind of shy in that large group of intimidating popular people.
Seeing them made me intimidated as well. They were all people I used to be friends with. I decided to just rush by them and avoid eye contact.
I was in the middle of doing that and I was literally right in front of them when I heard my name.
"Oh, guys. Remember Alena?" That was Dara's voice. I have no idea why I fucking did it, but I stopped walking when I heard that and I looked over at them. Literally all of them looked back at me and some of them, including Dara and Ema were chuckling quietly to themselves. This was making me feel VERY self conscious.
"You know, guys," Ema spoke up, her eyes staying on me though as she talked to the group. "I heard something quite interesting about her a while back." She said, a huge smirk on her face. I got really worried, hearing what she said. "Ema, don't." I said quickly but firmly. I didn't even know what she was talking about but I knew it wasn't going to be good. "I don't know what you're talking about." She said back, her smirk growing.
"All I know is that someone very special told me your little secret.." Ema stood up as she said this. Everyone in the group was staring and listening to us. "Just stop it." I said back.
"You never really were like Dara and I, huh? You just tried to be just because your mommy and daddy never paid enough attention to you." Ema said, easily loud enough for the entire group to hear. My eyes widened and tears immediately started to fill in my eyes. Some people in the group scoffed and I even heard a few chuckles. "Stop." I said very quickly.
"That's right." Ema said with a chuckle as she crossed her arms. "Alena here spent more than half of her life trying to be like me just so she could get recognition from her mom and dad. Literally because they like me more than her." She continued to laugh as she told everyone my biggest secret.
"Ema, stop!" I shouted as tears began pouring down from my eyes. "Sounds pretty desperate.." I heard a guy in the group say with a chuckle.
I've never felt so freaking humiliated.. Just when I think Ema can't get any worse, she always finds a way to prove me wrong. I didn't even know what to do with myself.
