A Month Later...(Lucas's P.O.V)

I was very disappointed in myself... I had no idea this would end up happening but, I've grown very attached to Veronica. And it's only been a bit over a month but now I'd honestly consider her to be one of my best friends.

But I couldn't help it.. In the beginning, she seemed very boring but ever since that evening we went bowling, I only started liking her more and more. Once she opened up to me, I could see that she was actually a very bubbly and fun person that I didn't know I needed in my life. 

But the fact that I've grown attached to her was a REALLY bad thing.. Because whenever Ema gave me the cue, it was going to be me who destroyed her relationship with Jackson. I didn't really care about Jackson since I still hated the guy but I cared about Roni. 

This was going to break her. I was going to be the reason for her heartbreak. She did not deserve what was about to happen to her even a little bit. And I strongly doubted that Roni was actually the reason for Jack and Ema's break up like Ema told me. Not even two months of knowing Roni and I already know that she would never do something like that. 

But on top of causing Roni pain, this plan that Ema made was also going to make me lose Roni as a friend. I freaking loved my friendship with her and I would never want to lose her as a friend. She meant so much to me already and I cared about her so much but now I was going to lose her.. 

Maybe at lunch I could try talking to Ema about backing out of this plan... She'd probably say no but it was worth a try.. 

Just as I was about to get out of bed, my phone dinged meaning I got a message. I grabbed it and checked who it was and what it said. It was from Ema. 

Ema: Hang out with her again after school today. You need to hang out with her as much as possible this week because next Monday is the big day.

I sighed reading her message. I really didn't want to do this anymore.. I regretted getting involved in this more than ever. 

Ok, I HAD to talk to her at lunch. Disregarding what she said, I typed out my message.

Lucas: Meet me at the couches in the atrium at the start of lunch.

After sending my message, I got up and got ready for today.

Veronica's P.O.V... 

Things with Lucas have been going great! We've gotten so close in such little time which was amazing! And on top of that, Jack somehow had 100% trust in me. He told me that he knew that our relationship was just friends so he was completely fine with that. 

My life honestly just felt perfect right now. I had an amazing boyfriend/best friend and now I've also made a new close friend. And of course, Shayna, Jeremy and Coltin made my life amazing as well. 

But anyway, I got out of bed and went to my closet to get dressed. I got dressed in a oversized yellow t-shirt because I felt happy and some denim blue shorts that were almost completely covered by the t-shirt. I put my hair in a high ponytail, brushed my teeth, then went to school with Jack. 

Once we got there, we said goodbye and I went up to class. I sat at my normal seat and Lucas showed up and sat beside me a couple minutes later. We greeted each other happily as we gave each other a quick side hug. 

"So," He said, turning to me. "hang out after school?" He smiled. "What are you planning?" I also smiled. "How about we go for ice cream?" He asked me, still with a smile as he slightly raised a brow. "Ooh, sounds fun. Yeah, let's go." I said happily. 

Lunch...(Lucas's P.O.V)

At the start of lunch, I went over to the couches in the atrium and sat down on one of them, waiting for Ema. She showed up a bit late, about ten minutes later. She sighed as she sat down beside me. 

"Alright, what's up?" She asked me, crossing her arms. "I don't wanna do this anymore." I told her firmly. She looked at me. "What do you mean?" She asked me. "I don't want to ruin Roni's relationship anymore." I told her, again firmly. 

"What the fuck do you mean, why?!" She asked, raising her voice and sounding pretty mad. "Because Roni doesn't deserve it. She's an amazing person and she deserves the happiness that Jack gives her." I explained. I saw her roll her eyes. "Not you too, Luke.. Don't go all soft now.." She sighed. "Well what do you expect when you force me to be someone's friend for over a month?" I said, sounding pretty annoyed. 

"You are going to break them up Lucas. I paid you two hundred freaking dollars so you will NOT back out now!" She told me, very firmly before getting up and walking away. 

I sighed, putting my head in my hands. I knew the money would be the problem. If it wasn't for the money, I wouldn't even talk to her about it, I would just quit her plan. But since she gave me money, I couldn't do that. 

I would give her the money back if I could, but as soon as I got it, I used it to help buy my mom a new laptop. She's been having to do her work on a pretty much broken one for about two months and it's really been a big struggle for her. My family was just me and my mom and we weren't 'poor' but we definitely weren't doing amazing either. 

It'd be hard for me to just scrape up 200$. But I was interfering with Roni's life.. If I was going to mess up her life, I had to be the one to fix it. But there was no way I'd be able to get that kind of money. I didn't have spare cash like that.

Fuck, I was really trapped...
