"I'm tired," Pier spoke as he sat on the sturdy ground. Scratching the back of his head, he groaned as pain started to engulf his body.

"Darkness is trying to take over your body, guardian," the phoenix informed him mentally which he nodded his head in response.

He knew that.

He assumed the position of the Sovereign of Darkness until Ciaran would become one and it wouldn't take long.

But for now, he will carry on the responsibility of being its ruler.

"Ruler?" He groaned again in distaste. He did not know what responsibilities Achlysse had when he ruled the underworld.

"It can be postponed. As long as I don't die, the underworld will remain intact," he mumbled and cradled his head between his knees.

His main goal right now was to keep the underworld intact. As Achlysse died and the sword of darkness was not replaced by another weapon that had the same ability, the underworld started breaking apart.

But since he assumed the position and used the Sword of Darkness' power, he can maintain the place's condition in its optimal state.

'It wouldn't take long before Ciaran becomes the Sovereign of Darkness. Hurry up, bat!' He groaned again in pain.

But with darkness surging through his body, it was expected he would be in pain for the entire duration.

"Hmmm... what should I do?" He asked himself and raised his head. The endless darkness then greeted his eyes.

Despite being the temporary Sovereign of Darkness, he couldn't do all the things Achlysse could. He cannot control the creatures here because he does not possess the darkness attribute totally.

The only purpose he became the temporary sovereign was to preserve the underworld until Ciaran reigns the place.

"Hmmm... When he rules this place, can I redecorate it too just as what I did with his void?" Pier spoke out loud and silence responded to his question.

It wouldn't be bad to hang disco balls around the place for some entertainment now, no?

The thought made him chuckle until he decided to rise on his feet and stretch. Manifesting healing magic, he slowly felt the pain go away.

"Now where is that lover of mine?" Pier hummed as he started walking the place.

It wouldn't be long until he found himself in such a peculiar scenario.

"Something happened..." Ciaran mumbled as he stood on top of a corpse.

Blood dripped from the tip of the scythe he held but he did not mind it. His eyes were focused on the far distance of the underworld where he saw a giant explosion.

It shook him to the core when he felt immense waves of magic power radiating from that specific spot.

'Are those candidates killing over that side too?' His eyebrows furrowed at the thought. He did not like it one bit.

All the other candidates he has slain were easy to kill but if he were to fight the candidates that produced such magic that illuminated half of the underworld...

"Will I lose?" He asked and contemplated about it.

It was strong, so strong that despite not wanting to admit it, he was scared for a second.

Fear rose through his body the moment he watched five enormous magic orbs rise in the dark sky to form a single sphere that contained so much magic it shook the entire underworld to its core.
