"Kya! It's so pretty!" Raegan mumbled as he hugged the little prayer bracelet his father had made out of the multiple magic concentrated beads from his dad's magic.
"Be careful not to break any of it, Raegan," Ciaran instructed as he read his book.
"What happens if one of the beads broke, father?" The dragon prince asked and without removing his eyes from the printed letters on the page, the king responded. "Your father gains a great portion of his magic back."
"Wow... How much magic?" Raegan was quite curious.
"Think of every bead as the full power of a normal lower sovereign."
And all of a sudden, Raegan's hold on the prayer bead tightened. Careful not to break the multiple beads that were there.
He counted them one by one.
"One... two... three... four... five... six... seven... hmm..." The dragon then went beside his father's seat. "Does that mean the magic dad took out of his body is equivalent to the power of seven sovereigns combined?" He asked and Ciaran nodded his head, proud of his little dragon son's ability to put things together.
"That's right."
"But why does Dad have to take a great portion out of his magic?" He asked as he wore the bracelet on his arm which sparkled under the chandelier lights.
"So he can interact with humans and use his magic."
"What does that mean, father? I'm a little lost..."
"It is an unofficial rule between sovereigns but one cannot freely use their magic against beings weaker than them. It is an act of abusing one's power that leads to the demise of the other party in an unfair manner." Raegan's mouth slightly parted at that.
He didn't know that fact and it amazed him.
"Other sovereigns, too, are limited by this capacity as they do not know what the other sovereigns are thinking. If we ever abuse our power as higher beings, this gives the other sovereigns originally not included in the scene to join in guise of 'justice' for the power abuse the original sovereign did." the Vampire King explained as he turned the page of the book.
"Is that also the reason why your invasion of Cresencia was postponed?" The Vampire King nodded his head and closed the book he was reading. He turned to Raegan and patted the little prince's head.
"Yes. Sovereigns around the whole world who knows about the ascension of your dad in his place as the strongest amongst all are wary of his presence. Some are threatened. If we continued the war with our newfound magic, this would give them a reason to join the war on the opposing side in order to eliminate us. This will make the task more difficult so we are trying to avoid that." The explanation was lengthy but Raegan understood it word by word.
He now got it why even though they have the greatest power between all the parties involved in the war, they didn't opt to continue invading.
"The Sovereign's Law is scary," the prince admitted which made Ciaran laugh. "I know. It is."
However, as the tiny little beads on his bracelet sparkled once more, another question popped up in his head.
"If he took a great portion of his magic away, does dad's sovereign status go away with that too?" He spoke out of nowhere which also surprised Ciaran a little bit. Raegan sure is a curious child.
