"I... I don't think I'm dead, your highness," Pier smiled awkwardly when Finley's eyes were locked on him. Faust, on the other hand, was looking at his brother with bewilderment.
Who asks someone if they're dead the first time they meet them anyway?!
'Y-You crazy bastard!' His teeth grit and his hands formed into fists. He did not want to look at Pier right now because he was embarrassed not just for himself but for his brother as well. Instead, he grabbed Finley's collar and shook the man. "What... are you saying?" He whispered but Finley was still looking at Pier as if he had two heads.
"Your highnesses!" the head knight called to the two and Finley finally snapped out of his trance. The crown prince immediately pushed Faust away and fixed his collar before clearing his throat.
'Shit,' he cursed internally.
"I apologize. I was dizzy for a moment and thought I was seeing your ghost," he reasoned out and Pier tilted his head to the side in curiosity to what the prince meant by that.
"It's all right, your highness. I do think I am too pale lately that some might think I am a ghost," the young master humored accompanied by his own little chuckle in return and the knights around them stiffened including Faust.
'Your highness...'
'Finley, you bastard!'
Both the knights and the second prince thought at the same time.
They knew Finley was someone who was always lighthearted in any given situation but they never knew the man would think of someone like that the first time they meet.
"The trip to the palace will be for half an hour. Are you okay riding Faust's horse with him?" Finley asked while completely ignoring the joke Pier spoke. This caused a shiver to run down Faust's and the knight's back.
'What happened to him?!' Everyone who saw the interaction was thinking.
"Of course, your highness."
"All right. Faust, lend the young master a space on your horse. His carriage will be brought to the farmland."
Faust could only nod his head as his brother decided what should be done.
Initially, there was a separate horse Pier was meant to use to ride back to the palace when he arrives in Belmaid. However, the plan was cancelled when Finley insisted that it could be an opportunity for Pier and his younger brother, Faust, to catch up with each other.
After the discussion, Finley turned his horse to the direction where the palace was to be located and the animal started galloping away leaving the knights, the young master, and his brother behind. Faust watched his brother's back with twitching eyebrows.
'I... I'm going to kill him later...'
"Faust!" The second prince turned his head and saw that the young master had approached him. The latter had a smile on his face and for a second, Faust's mind faltered.
Pier was just so beautiful that he could not put enough words to describe it. It's as if his beauty was out of this world and incomparable to anyone else. If only he did not have a clue what the man was really like under this guise, he would have fallen for him head over heels just like what happened the first time they met during the Royal Banquet.
Or was it a guise?
He snapped out of his mind and looked into Pier's eyes. It was different from the pair of cerulean eyes that complemented his black hair well. Now, it was a combination of gold and skylike eyes that exuded extreme elegance and sophistication.
