The curtains danced as cold winds entered the room but the moment they passed the window frame, they immediately turned into gentle zephyrs that emitted a warm aura.
It's midday for the Kingdom of Mir yet it was as dark as it could get during midnight. It didn't help that the palace was located under a huge crater on the fourth mountain and only a minimal amount of sunlight pierced through the place.
However, it wasn't fully dark with the assistance of magic orbs floating around as if they were insects hopping from one place to another.
They were products of the white-haired king's light blessing which he cast months ago to give the entire kingdom its much-needed protection. It was beautiful. But not just that, there was another source of light.
Right behind the palace was the enormous garden that stretched for a few miles and located in the middle of the garden was a field of white flowers that gave off a calming glow amidst the darkness.
They were the same patch of flowers that the Vampire King had discovered in the fifth mountain and relocated in the garden as a present for the young king when he started living in the Mir Mountains with the vampires. Now the flowers that started in a small patch grew and grew that it started creeping out of their designated place in the garden.
Silas was sitting on his favorite chair in their room which sat just right beside the window where the warm breeze was flowing in. He hummed an unfamiliar tune in which filled the room as he flipped from page to page once his eyes finished reading the imprinted texts on them.
He wore a silk robe whose strings were loosely wrapped around his waist making the fabric reveal a bit of his collarbones and toned chest.
The cup with half-drank tea sat on a small table right beside the chair and the smoke coming off of it immediately danced with the winds.
It was then that three knocks on the door were heard inside making the young king pause in his actions and look at the entrance.
"You know you don't have to knock, right?" He spoke with a small chuckle accompanying his words. Soon enough, the door creaked as it opened and revealed the man behind peeking into the room playfully.
"Hello, my love," Ciaran smiled as he walked inside and then closed the door right after.
"How was your day?" The white-haired king inquired as he fully closed the book and brought his full attention to his lover.
"It was alright. Nothing to do much recently as there were no problems arising," the Vampire King retorted. He made his way to where Silas was and when he reached the spot, he stood in front of him.
Comfortable silence occupied the atmosphere between the two as they just looked at each other.
Until Ciaran broke it.
"Do I get a reward for doing a good job today?" He asked which Silas responded with a light chuckle. He didn't say anything about it but instead, diverted the topic when he noticed something.
"Have you been growing your hair out?" He asked as he watched the now lengthy locks. It wasn't anywhere near being long where Ciaran can wear a ponytail but good enough for him to have a slicked-back style with his black curly hair.
"Yeah, I haven't thought about getting a style recently since I've been occupied with border patrol," he admitted. "Should I get one?" He asked and this time, Silas shook his head immediately.
