"My blessing will always be with the kingdom for eternity," the young king whispered as their foreheads touched. It was in total silence.
The moment the immense magic wave traveled through the entire lands of Mir, the territory was engulfed in the absence of sound. However, that was only the beginning. The grass and trees started to emit light.
"Before, I always thought that ruling a kingdom wasn't meant for me. I never considered having this responsibility." Ciaran had his eyes closed as he listened to his lover's words. "Governing over people, taking care of many problems, solving every trial that may come in my way, I never liked those..."
There was a point in time when Silas definitely thought that ruling a kingdom was absurd. He hated the responsibilities and the task. Whenever he thought about it, his spine would shiver.
"But when fate drove me into a corner, its all that I could cling onto. This kingdom was my last resort." With his hand on the vampire king's cheek, Silas smiled with his eyes closed as well.
"I initially thought it wasn't meant for me but with the right people, everything changed."
"My love..."
"With the right man, I found joy in the dread within my heart."
Fenrir could not help but shut his eyes even more. His heart was swelling in so much joy that he wanted to cry. The warmth enveloping his body was similar to the warmth that he would feel whenever he was with Silas.
"With the right person, I never knew ruling a kingdom could be beautiful. Growing this land with you is a hidden dream amongst the nightmares I had."
There are so many options that the white-haired king could've had.
"Maybe fate wanted me to be the hero of the world that would save it from eventual destruction."
He could've been the king of another nation right from the start of this story.
"Maybe fate wanted me to be the savior of millions upon millions."
He could've been the ruler who defended his territory and vanquished the foe.
"Maybe fate wanted me to be even something greater than a king."
He could've been an emperor at this moment. Winning the war against the enemy empire also meant taking their land and territory. He could've been that.
Yet he contradicted fate's desires and chose to tread his own path where he got lost. The moment he decided to change the course of his fate, he was bound to embark in a journey towards the unknown.
The white-haired king continued to tread the meadows of destiny yet he couldn't find the one he thought he was suited for.
"Even if I still chose to not let fate dictate my own destiny, I could've had a plethora of options within my hands."
With his magic, he could've lived a quiet life in the wild where people cannot reach him; where he can learn to explore the world with his own hands. He could've been a nomad that was once lost in the path of fate and will continue to do so until the day of his death.
Silas then rubbed Fenrir's cheek with his thumb and instinctively, the vampire king opened his eyes. Emerald eyes met with contrasting colors of the vibrant sky and the golden sun.
"But the moment I looked into your eyes, I knew I had to take the risk."
Ciaran's held his breath as tears started to form in the corner of his eyes.
"The risk of being with you."
Yet even without falling, the white-haired king gently rubbed the tears that were on the verge of falling.
