Hongjoong knew he was one of the lucky parents whose baby was usually fairly quiet. Since he'd gone on extended leave, Nabi had quieted down a lot and was usually easily consolable each time she cried. She rarely screamed at the tops of her lungs anymore and was mostly a happy baby, enjoying cooing to the people around her with her own words, waving at anyone and anything she passed.

However sitting around a coffee table at the hospital café with the moms from the mother's class, he was beginning to think he shouldn't take Nabi with him anymore, because although she'd been fine with the fathers group, she just would not stop crying every time he brought her along to the maternal sessions.

Not that he blamed her. He felt like crying too. He had fucking dreaded coming all week, and had to just about force himself into the car that morning.

For good fucking reason.

Sighing, Cho Dakyeong sat forward and reached her blood-red red manicured hand out as though she was about to rest it on his forearm around Nabi's back.

He jerked back, not wanting her talons on him or his daughter, or even anywhere near them.

She definitely noticed, despite the way she detoured, picking up a napkin from in front of him to gently dab at her red lips with. With malicious intent, she leant back in her seat—her predator eyes resting upon him as she sighed in feigned concern. 'Isn't it just heartbreaking how babies can pick up on their parents' emotions,' she breathed. 'Hongjoong dear, you must be in such low spirits.'

He had to refrain from arching an eyebrow, because oh how right she was. He was tired of her's and Siwon's open flirtation towards him, making him incredibly uncomfortable. BiNa, ChuHua and Minyoung were fine to talk to, however the other two snakelike women made him uneasy. Dakyeong particularly.

No wonder Nabi was upset.

'Why would you say that?' he asked, feigning ignorance.

He hadn't expected her response.

'Raising a child alone isn't easy.'

He frowned. 'Why would you think I'm doing it alone?' he asked, taken aback.

'Oh honey,' Dakyeong replied, sounding both—likely falsely—compassionate as well as cunning. 'Did you think we wouldn't notice the way your wife hasn't made a single appearance since your daughter's birth?' She quickly pushed back her hair as she added swiftly, 'you really are such a good father stepping in for her.'

He could have laughed in her face, if he wasn't so stunned. 'I'm not raising Naeun alone,' he said, completely confused as to why his "wife" not appearing would lead her to such a conclusion. There were a million and one different reasons why his "wife" wouldn't be able to make it—his "wife" being his husband, for one.
