Lulling back and forth on the rocking chair in their parents' home, Yeosang idly patted a sleeping Nabi on the back as he stared up at the ceiling. It had been a couple hours since Wooyoung had left with San, saying they would be back later. He hadn't said where they were going, but the look on his face had said it anyway.
He was glad they were going to see his family. He supposed he should thank San. The guy was good to Wooyoung, and saw nothing but a halo around him. He paid attention too. Learned. Used his brain. He'd realised the moment he'd laid eyes on San, that the guy already knew what was going on in Wooyoung's head, without even being told. Granted, no details, but that wasn't necessary.
San had worked out why Wooyoung had disappeared, used his brain, given him the time he needed, and then gone to him.
The way a lover and a life partner should have.
Wooyoung had walked out that door with a fragile smile on his lips.
He supposed, he should thank San.
San, who had turned out to be the guy he had always hoped Wooyoung would find, instead of the assholes that had come and gone with little to no regard for his brother.
San, who had always had a kind of childish yet deep love for him, right from the beginning.
San, who had likely saved his brother's life, so soon after meeting him, forcing him to get help even his own brain knew Wooyoung would have never sought out himself.
He supposed, he had a lot to thank San for.
However there was a kind of ache in him, as he thought about the way San helped Wooyoung... A way in which he himself could never...
"He's not a child anymore, Sang," his mother had said, not five minutes after the two had walked out the door. His brother had been melded to San's side, needing security and dependence more than anything. But meeting his needs, San's arm had wrapped around him, giving him the protection so openly, with eyes for him, and him only.
"You have to start being okay with letting him go, when he wants to go to other people," his mom had said, tone rather harsh. "It doesn't make you any less of his big brother, and it doesn't mean he does not want you anymore."
"No," he had murmured as he'd tried not to stare at the door... Tried not to sulk like a child, and be scolded as one for not being able to let go. "But he doesn't need me anymore."
He'd felt like a kid as he was told everything he'd expected to hear. "Yeosang, you are old enough to know that is not true," his mother had said. She was tired, and upset, he knew. It wasn't like he didn't understand. His parents loved Wooyoung as their son as well, and his struggles had been hard on them too. Raising a child who struggled with life... Struggled to function, struggled to live. Anxiety, depression, mania, disassociation, panic attacks, worry, overwhelming, cavernous love that screamed in need for a very certain kind of attention... Reassurance...
