It felt strange without Wooyoung home.

His brother had spent so many nights with his boyfriend the past months, but while some had felt harder to pass without him, Yeosang thought that at least before, it felt like it was only temporary. That his brother would be coming back. Wooyoung would still call during the night when his sleep was plagued with night terrors, and he would still come straight home the next morning.

He'd still felt within reach.

But now...

Sitting in his window seat with his back to the glass, when he stared out at the hallway beyond his door, he couldn't help but feel an emptiness that hadn't been there before.

Wooyoung had left in the morning, fulfilling his promise to his boyfriend that they would talk about it more. It had sounded like nothing had been set in stone yet, but he knew better.

He knew his brother well enough to know he'd already made up his mind.

And so somehow, he found himself having to accept a brand new fact he couldn't believe he'd never thought of before...

He was going to have to live, apart from him.

He didn't register his teary skin, nor the way a fresh tear slipped down his cheek as he stared at his open door and remembered the way it had stayed locked shut for over a week, when he'd found out about the truth behind Wooyoung's hospitalisation. At the time, he'd been so mad, but fuck— Now, he couldn't understand why he hadn't let him in... Why he'd sat curled in a ball behind his bed and squeezed his eyes shut, covering his ears, trying to block him out, instead of going to him.

He'd wasted time he could have had with him.

He'd run away from him, not even able to look at his face...

He glanced across to his bedside table, where he knew the USB his brother had given him, filled with videos of their lives, sat. That one little stick, held every single thing he so cherished...

A part of him wanted to see them again...

Another part, knew it would be too painful.

Tears slipping down his cheeks, he stared at his bed, seeing himself with his brother and Hongjoong just that morning. He'd been so happy... So incredibly, happy, together...

But it felt like the moment had been ruined by the impending sense of separation he knew was coming. They weren't kids anymore. They weren't supposed to act like children anymore...

But he couldn't seem to get out of where he was still locked in the past...
