Ass parked on the concrete ledge along the river, sunset, the cold air biting into everything through his track pants and jacket, but most severely into his nipples, Jae took a swig of his beer in "water bottle format" to get away with it in public—Sangwoo on one side of him drinking some kind of cheap-ass fake whiskey from a sippy cup, and Kim on the other, blatantly drinking from a stubby.

'You know, I still can't believe Sam never told us he was gay,' he said, taking another swig, thinking about their friend's coming out. He'd met up with Sam and his new boyfriend only a couple days ago before they'd gone back to Seoul, but he had to admit, although his friend had still been the same guy he'd known for ages, there was something just different about him. It was like he was almost freeballing it. No fucks to give, hair down, out of the closet—(¿¿¿was it too soon for the metaphor???—and living without hesitation.

He seemed free.

'Speak for yourself, bro,' Sangwoo replied, no doubt rolling his eyes. 'I knew.'

'Yeah, fucking years late,' he replied, rolling his own eyes right back at him. 'Yeah, I heard about that.'

He saw his friend's jaw tense, and watched him staring out over the river, reflecting the sunset back at them. Guess he's still pretty cut about it... On the flip side, at least it made a lot more sense now, why it seemed Sangwoo had been so determined to roll around the sheets with Kim.

Don't even start, he told himself, firmly shutting the memories behind closed doors, and using a long-ass mental stick to shove the tendrils of moans and flash naked images that spilled out from between the doors.

'Did you know?' he decided to ask Kim, looking aside at him.

The guy shrugged, taking a swig from his beer and then leaning back on his hands, eyes pointed outwards. 'I suspected.'

'For how long?' Sangwoo asked, looking across him to the oldest.

Kim shrugged again. 'A lot longer than you.'

Cryptic. It threatened to piss him off, until he thought he caught a glimpse of the truth beyond the words. 'You knew from the start, didn't you?' he breathed. 'That's why you never picked on him at school.'

'Not true,' Kim shot back. 'Still picked on Jongho, and I knew he was gay.'

He rolled his eyes. 'Bi,' he corrected. 'But you still knew, didn't you?'

Kim took a deep breath, leaning onto one hand only as he lifted the other to drink his beer. 'He had enough people picking on him already.'

Avoided, again.

Inadvertently, it gave them the answer the chad had tried to avoid—that he had known, from the very beginning.

He wondered how the bloody hell he'd been able to tell something, none of them had ever picked up on before—not even Luna, queen of observance.

Then again, having been enlightened to Kim's—... Emotional talents...—he supposed he shouldn't have been surprised. Kim could read people, whether he liked it or not, and while the rest of their friend group had based their relationships on basic shit like accidentally running into one another a tad too often, it seemed that before they'd even gotten close as a friend group, Kim had been perhaps the only one really paying attention to everyone.
