Friday night in their parents' home, sitting in the guest's single bed leaning against the wall, Yeosang sat beside his brother in the low light of the streetlight outside their window, listening to the shower running down the hallway. Wooyoung seemed content, totally engrossed in his book as he nibbled on the tip of his pinky, however as he tapped his own fingers against the side of his phone, his mind was elsewhere...
Back to the side of the street bathed in moonlight standing with Jongho, where he had realised his trust had not fully returned...
Back to the night he'd realised, the toxic dance they had been playing, ignoring their past, was becoming harder and harder not to see...
"If you're not ready, then you don't have to be...
You might never be..."
Seonghwa's words rattled around in his head, as they had been ever since, however tonight, they seemed to cut a little deeper...
I miss him...
It had only been a couple nights, but no matter what he did, he felt like the shadows were closing in, and in the most toxic way possible, he felt like the harder it was becoming for him to cope with his internal turmoil with whatever it was between them, the more he felt like he needed to hold on tighter.
Coincidentally, it still felt like everything was slipping through his fingers.
Seonghwa had been right.
When things were good with Jongho, he was happier. Brighter... Life was so much easier when he wasn't being torn apart from the inside.
However it felt like life was getting harder by the minute. Work was torturous and long and exhausting, his night hours at the hospital had meant he'd had very little time to talk with Jongho despite being inundated by a visceral need for him that compounded by the minute, home life was beating him down, his patience was dwindling, and even though he was back home with his parents and Nabi, he still didn't feel like the laughter they had shared over the dinner table had been real.
He felt like he was acting... Playing the 'happy brother and son' that he no longer felt like...
Tapping his phone screen, he flicked past his home screen of him, Wooyoung and Mingi, and scrolled through to his messages, clicking on Jongho's name. It was only ten pm, and it was Friday. He should have been awake.
But as much as he ached to call him—text him at the very least...
Something held him back...
'What's wrong?'
Wooyoung's voice interrupted his thoughts, and switching off his phone screen, he glanced aside at him. 'Who said something's wrong?'
