Dinner had been more painful than usual. Shutting his laptop lid in his room, Yunho groaned in pained cringe as he thought about sitting around the dinner table with Mingi, telling his parents that their bed—singular, as in, one, bed—was being delivered in two days, and that they would finally be moving into their new flat together.
It would have been only marginally painful, if not for his fucking mother bringing up the honeymoon days her and his father had had when they'd first moved in together. They had supposedly found it "impossible to keep their hands to themselves," which both traumatised him and confused him all at once, considering not a single universe existed in which he could imagine his parents being at all physical with one another.
Not that he was making a habit of trying.
He still sometimes felt like he might really have been dropped as a baby in a basket at their doorstep by a pelican, or whatever the fuck kind of bird it was in the fairytale.
Alas, Mingi's eyes had sparkled at the story of their early days like there was nothing more beautiful to him than blossoming love, while he had sat and choked to death on his fucking boiled potatoes.
Dinner had been painful.
But while the horrifying memory had continued to distract him from trying to focus on his mandatory education module for work, glancing around his empty room was enough to have his focus drifting.
'Min,' he murmured without thinking about it. His boyfriend was downstairs studying, borrowing the reference books in their living room that never got used, and glancing at the clock, he wasn't surprised in the slightest that he was starting to have withdrawals for his attention. Nearly two hours had gone past, it was late as fuck, dark as hell, and he'd been reprogrammed to need Mingi within arm's reach at bedtime.
Call it unhealthy co-dependence, but he couldn't have given a flying fuck whether he was overly needy or not. He was addicted to having him near, and the withdrawals were threatening to take over.
Maybe, at the very least, he could head downstairs and park his ass behind his and hug him until he fell asleep, cheek on his nape while he studied. That sounded nice. He could already feel his chest burning with the feeling of Mingi's back against it, and the sizzling of nerves along his forearms that would hug around his stomach. If he closed his eyes, he could smell his shampoo too...
I miss his hair smelling like the ocean, popped a random voice into his head, but he had to agree with it immediately. Fuck, he did miss him smelling of salt water and freedom. It was etched into the walls of his brain and burned into his memory, and as his eyes fluttered shut—slumping back into the backrest of his swivel desk chair and collapsing his head back—he was back in Busan, walking hand in hand with him along the beach towards the ocean pools they would come to swim in together...
"Mgmnn~" Mingi moaned in his head as they made love in the sea, eyes fluttering hazily and skin glowing with a sunset more vivid than he'd ever seen in his life, making every moment in his past feel as dull as though it had played in shades of grey.
