Past five o'clock, less than an hour till closing time, Yunho dusted off his hands as he stood up from under the examination table in the back room he had once brought Mingi, fixing the height adjusting knob. He'd stopped by after work to work on the little jobs around the place that had been ignored for a while, restocking and tidying and ordering and all those things, just to pass time. There was nothing else he'd want to be doing anyway, without Mingi home.
And so straightening the boxes of gloves he'd put by the hand basin, he'd been looking around for something else to do, when he heard his name called from the reception.
'Coming,' he called back, taking his tools and putting them in the store room on his way past.
Walking into reception, he was met with Jongho and a flustered, stressed look on his face—almost like whatever had happened, was the end of the world.
'I um... I was in the patient file,' Jongho said, paying the patient a glance at the counter who looked sceptical and concerned, 'but it just disappeared... I didn't delete it, did I?'
Letting out a breath, he walked over to him, leant over the back of his chair and took the mouse, clicking on the little window tab at the bottom of the screen that brought it straight back up. 'You can't delete files without system identifiers and passwords,' he said, clicking back into the calendar. 'You're here for your five thirty appointment?' he asked the patient.
They nodded, and he checked them in. 'You checked their details are up to date?' he asked Jongho.
The brunette nodded, and so he lifted his gaze to the patient. 'Please take a seat, Doctor Eun-Sook Jung will see you shortly.'
'Thank you,' Jongho murmured quietly, taking a large, steadying breath.
He patted him on the back of his shoulder. 'Don't stress. You won't accidentally delete anything. There's back ups too. Don't worry.'
Jongho gave him a small, almost sheepish smile. 'Thank you, Hyung.'
He patted him on the back once more, before turning around, and when he saw the bags of shredded paper recycling to be taken out, he decided that would be his next job.
Picking them up, as he walked down the hallway, taking the trash out as well, and his father gave him a warm nod as he stepped around him to call upon his next patient. 'Just taking out the bins,' he told him.
He didn't expect an answer, and he didn't get one, though he did feel the man's eyes linger on him as he passed his office. Pushing out the back door, he set off toward the drop zone in the back street behind the clinic. There were already a line of black bags there from other businesses.
Metallic clunking and the swish of shredded paper sounded as he dropped the bags down against the others. However just as he dusted his hands off and turned to head back inside, a tiny little squeaking noise caused him to stop in his tracks.
Frowning, he looked down, back over his shoulder and waited silently...
'Eeek...' the squeak sounded again, confirming that he hadn't imagined it.
