Out In The Auditorium

Frost: So you weren't here when your wife was, um..

Father: I, uh, had a meeting in Revere. I'm a general contractor. (puts Dakotas' jacket over her shoulders) There you go. Denise always texts me in time to see Dakota dance. But she, uh She didn't this time. Can I, uh..Can I take my daughter home now?

Frost: Yeah. Yeah. We'll need to talk to you again.

He gets up & walks to Korsak, Lindsay and Jane.

Husband: All right. Come on, hon.

They walk out.

Frost: Girl's name is Dakota. She said her mother didn't say anything before she died. No one saw the husband before or immediately after the murder. Said he had a meeting in Revere.

Jane: Check it. Check the GPS on his phone, too. Make sure he's telling the truth.

Frost: This is the head of the Sapphire Dance Studio. Coach JJ?

Coach JJ: Yeah.

Frost: Sergeant Detective Rizzoli, Lieutenant Detective Korsak.

Coach JJ: Hey, um, how much longer do you think this is gonna take? I've got a bunch of really upset moms and kids.

Rizzoli: Well, how well did you know Denise Ryan?

Coach JJ: Saw her almost every day for three years, but actually I felt like I didn't know her at all. She was just -- she wasn't like the other dance moms.

Frost: In what way?

Coach JJ: These ladies drive two hours to get to my studio several times a week, 'cause they all think that their kid is good enough to win nationals. Only Dakota is good enough to win. She could win it all. But Denise would only let her compete locally.

Lindsay: She give you a reason?

Coach JJ: Yeah, she said they had money problems.

Frost: Maybe the dad didn't want her competing?

Coach JJ: No, Skip was great. He'd haul our props around in his truck. He was real friendly. She was the one who didn't talk to anybody.

Jane: Is there a video of the dance competition?

Coach JJ: Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Um, "rise to the rhythm" will be happy to sell you one in the lobby.

(Jane's Cellphone vibrates and it goes on speaker)

Jane: Sergeant Rizzoli.

Cavanaugh: You don't answer your damn phone, Rizzoli?!

Jane: I have been, sir. I know what Veronica wants.

Cavanaugh: You do?

Jane: Our 15 year old son is in custody for robbing a sporting goods store.

Everyone: What?! Oh, my God!

Jane: And because he supposedly shot Gerry Kincaid.

Everyone: He shot a cop?!

Maura: (whispers to Lindsay) Why didn't she fight for him?

Lindsay: She did, but she didn't have the money to take care of him. They were engaged but Veronica's parents didn't really like Jane. They made Veronica tell Jane she was only with her for a child, then they moved away.

Maura: Wonder why she never told me.

Lindsay: Yeah, well, there's a reason for that. You want to see a grown woman cry? A woman cop no less?

Frost: The kid shot Gerry Kincaid, Lindsay. That guy's like Santa Claus.

Lindsay: I know. I know.
