They take Jane into surgery to fix the tendons in her hands. Three hours later they're done. They bring her back to a room. She wakes up an hour later with Maura and Korsak looking at her.

Jane: I know what you want to say, so get it over with.

Maura: (crying) You are an idiot! It was stupid to go by yourself! You could've died!

Jane: I know that okay! But, nobody believed me! So I went by myself! What would've happened if I hadn't gone! Gail would be dead! I went and she's alive! I'm alive! My hands will heal! I'll get better!

Maura: Promise?

Jane: I promise. A few months of hand therapy and I'll be able to work and do everything I used to. They're gonna keep me a few weeks to make sure the therapy works and doesn't tear the tendons again.

Two Months Later

My hands have healed completely. No one knows what's gonna happen today. For two weeks, I've been practicing my grip and my shooting. Four days ago, the psychiatrist gave me the all clear. Two days ago, I went and took the firearms test. I fired multiple shots. All of them went in the chest. I passed 100%. I can go back to work.

Cavanaugh is going to do a small ceremony at BPD in the bullpen today with a live feed going to everyone at BPD. Even the Cafe. I am outside waiting for the signal. When Cavanaugh starts talking, he talks about someone who's brave and they'd do anything to keep people safe. Then he says, "And here she is." I walk in and look at Maura. I smile at her and walk to Cavanaugh. He hands me my gun and badge and says, "Welcome back." I look at my fiancé and say, "I told you that my hands would heal and I'd get better and go back to work. I can't wait to get a case.
