At the Crime Scene

Frost: How do we keep this from becoming a media feeding frenzy?

Korsak: If I didn't know Jane, I'd rush to judgment.

Frost: But we know Jane didn't do it, so maybe someone set her up.

Korsak: It wouldn't be that hard to steal her badge and put it in her car.

Cavanaugh: Okay, here's what I need to know. Does she have an alibi?

Korsak: She can't account for her whereabouts from 1:00 to 5:00 A. M.

Cavanaugh: But what about witnesses? Did anyone see them together?

Korsak: No. It's Rizzoli, Sean.

Cavanaugh: What'd she say happened?

Korsak: She can't remember anything.

Cavanaugh: Okay. This is as bad as it gets. We've got to bring her in for questioning.

Korsak: What? - How can we investigate her? We work with her.

Cavanaugh: Every cop in Massachusetts has worked with her at some point. Right now, it's our investigation.

At BPD with Jane in Interrogation

Lindsay: I don't know what to do.

Korsak: We've got to do our job, Lindsay.

Lindsay: Do we have to do this right now? Look at her. Something's off.
She was out of it this morning, like someone else was in her body.

Cavanaugh: Is she a drinker?

Lindsay: No. I mean, beer.

Korsak: Maybe somebody slipped a roofie.

Lindsay: Yeah. Yeah.

Cavanaugh: Take a tox screen after you interview her.

Lindsay: Why after? Why not do it now?

Korsak: We have to treat her like anybody else. I don't like this any better than you do.

Frost: We should probably should do a rape kit, too.

Lindsay: Oh, my god.

Korsak: Lindsay, you want me to do the interview?

Lindsay: No. I'll do it.

Cavanaugh: Rizzoli, you can't go in there unless you're gonna go at her like any other suspect.

Lindsay: I can do that.

Cavanaugh: Okay.

Frost: I just ran a background check on Stefanie Adams. You got to see this.

He shows them and she's a hooker. Lindsay walks into the room.

Lindsay: Did Stefanie Adams tell you what she did for a living?

Jane: Yes, I told you, Lindsay. She was an artist.

Lindsay: What did you talk about?

Jane: Art. My job. She ordered me a beer.

Lindsay: Did you leave the bar with her?

Jane: Yes.

Lindsay: How did you get home?

Jane: I uh, I wanted to take a cab. My car was still here. I walked there.

Korsak: Check the taxi companies. See if there's any record.

Lindsay: Okay. How did your badge
get in the victim's car?

Jane: I'm not sure. Um, I remember walking past the valet, and then- Did she kiss me? I-I think she blew me a kiss.

Lindsay: She blew you a kiss? Do you remember anything after that?

Jane: Oh, no. I was in her car.

Korsak: She just put herself at the murder scene.

Cavanaugh: Oh, no.

Lindsay: Stefanie Adams had a record of theft and drug possession. She owed $39,000 in back child support, and she wasn't an artist. She was a hooker.

Cavanaugh: Oh, god.

Korsak: She played her.

Cavanaugh: The question is why.

Jane: It's getting hot in here.

She takes her jacket off.

Lindsay: Oh, god. Where did you get those bruises?

Jane: Likely offensive in nature due to the location on the arm. This type of bruising would occur if I-I threw a punch and it was blocked by someone's arm.

Lindsay: Sergeant Detective Rizzoli, are you saying that you attacked Stefanie Adams?

Jane: I-I don't know. Maybe.

Lindsay: Why would you do that?

Jane: I was provoked?

Frost: Now what the hell do we do?

Cavanaugh: We take pictures and process her clothes.

Korsak: Do you think that's the right call?

Cavanaugh: We don't have a choice. Better us than anybody else.
