Exam season was upon them. These OWL's would write out their futures for their last year at Hogwarts. Elizabeth had to pay attention, she wanted nothing more than to qualify for advanced potions but given her experience's this year with Snape, it was looking like an impossible task.
In the midst of her relationship with Mattheo, her friendships, her pregnancy and The loss of such, she was up to her ears in stress and work.
Graham wasn't helping either, since coming back to school after the new year, he had a lot to say about Elizabeth's outburst with her mother. Matter of fact, he's been begging her to apologise, not wanting her to lose any chance of inheritance but Elizabeth was stubborn, she wouldn't give in and it was another reason that she needed to do well in her OWL's, she would prove that she didn't need them and their measley money.
Avoiding her older brother was becoming more difficult, he was everywhere and even though it was his last year and she should be spending time with him before he went off into the great wizarding world. She'd rather not listen to his floundering.
So, she'd found a spot at the back of the library, a table hidden behind the bookshelves, where she could study in peace. Her books were surrounding her and her wrist ached from the intense scribbling she'd been doing. Making potions and transfiguration her top priorities was a conscious decision that she'd made, deciding that astronomy, defense against the dark arts and muggle studies, weren't really all that beneficial.
Her eyes were tired and dry, as she struggled to peel them back open after closing them for a second but even through her hazy vision, she could make out the head of brown curls and raven coloured bob coming towards her. She shook her head at them both, knowing what they were doing.
"No" Elizabeth muttered straight away, watching Pansy frown.
"You need to rest darling, what use is all the studying if you won't remember what you've learnt?" Mattheo spoke as he rounded her chair, his hands coming up to massage her shoulders.
"No I need to study. I really want to do well" Elizabeth sighed.
"And you will, Elizabeth after everything you've been through lately...it's a wonder you're even studying at all" Pansy gave her friend a knowing smile. Elizabeth knew she was right, after going to muggle London and doing what had to be done, Elizabeth had limited herself to a week of feeling sad, although she would carry the sadness for a lifetime. Her friends thought she was being strange, telling her that she was allowed to be sad, that she was allowed to feel broken but the brunette simply wanted a distraction and studying, was the perfect one.
"I know" Elizabeth rested her chin on her hand. Relaxing into Mattheo's touch.
"Then come back to the common room and relax, you can study more tomorrow" Mattheo chuckled as he leant down close to her ear, pressing a kiss to her neck.
"Fine" Elizabeth huffed, shoving all of her book's into her satchel and trying to hoist it onto her shoulder but Mattheo stopped her, taking the heavy bag from her hands and slinging it over his own shoulder.
Pansy slung her arm around Elizabeth's shoulders as they walked back to the common room, both of them deep in conversation as Mattheo walked slowly behind them. His eyes watching Elizabeth's every move.
