You were sitting at a desk in a restaurant, waiting. You were already on your third drink, and your date was now 40 minutes late. You sighed, feeling the familiar sting of disappointment. Why does it always have to be you? Still, the last bit of hope hadn't left your body yet, so you looked around the restaurant. Maybe he was waiting at another table because he hadn't seen you? But all you could see was the guy a few tables to your left. He had arrived around the same time as you and was also ordering only drinks, no food at all. Was he waiting on someone too?
You downed your drink and ordered another one, continuing to watch him. He looked a little down, but he was so handsome with his black, fluffy hair and the big muscles that were visible through his shirt. You didn't know where you found the courage—maybe it was the three drinks you'd already had—but you grabbed your glass and walked over to him.
"Is this seat taken?" you asked, pointing at the chair opposite him. He looked up at you, surprised.
"I guess not," he mumbled, and you sat down with a smile. There was a moment of silence.
"I was stood up today," you finally confessed. He sighed.
"Me too," was all he said.
"Was she your girlfriend or something?" you asked. You needed to know if he was taken.
He shook his head. "My friend set up a blind date," he mumbled. "And you?"
"Same," you answered, sipping your drink. He looked you in the eyes.
"Do you want to spend the evening together?" he finally asked.
You smiled. "I would love that."
"I'm Changbin," he said, raising his arm to wave the waiter over to your table.
"Y/n," you smiled.
As the night wore on and you two slowly warmed up to one another, you felt really comfortable around him. He was easy to talk to, sweet, and funny. All of a sudden, you were glad your date didn't show tonight.
"Do you want to go for a walk?" he finally said, and you nodded.
"Sure. Let's pay and go," you answered, taking out your card.
"Put it back. That's on me," he said and got out his own card as he called the waiter over again.
"No, let's split the bill, really," you protested.
"You saved my night, Y/n. Let me treat you," he smiled, and before you could protest further, he had already paid.
You stepped outside, the cool night air hitting you. "Are you cold?" he asked as you closed your jacket all the way up to cover your throat. You should have brought a scarf.
"No. I'm not. I just don't want to get a sore throat," you said, smiling up at him.
He immediately took off his own scarf and wrapped it around you, making sure you were covered. "Here you go," he said, smiling brightly.
The scarf was thick and warm, and it smelled so good that you caught yourself smelling it the whole time while snuggling a little bit into it. "Thanks," you mumbled, feeling a bit shy.
You walked through a small park nearby. Your hands brushed against each other occasionally, and you had the strong urge to just take his hand in yours, but you were too shy to do it.
"I was never so happy that my date didn't show," he joked.
You looked up at him. "Why?" you asked, not quite getting the hint because your brain just turned to mush around him for some reason.
"Because I met you, silly," he said, grabbing your hand with a slight pink tint to his cheeks.
You smiled brightly. "You're right. I feel the same way about tonight," you said.
You continued to walk the path, talking about random stuff. You couldn't stop smiling the whole time. How much luck did you need to have to meet a man like him? He was perfect.
"Hey, Y/n?" Changbin asked, stopping to look at you properly.
"Hm?" you hummed, not able to say more as your two eyes met. It was hypnotizing.
"Would you like to go out on a real date with me?" he asked nervously.
You smiled. "I would love to. But only if you will show up," you answered.
He chuckled at your little joke before he pulled you in for a hug. His strong arms held you close to him, and you wrapped your arms around his waist, just liking the feeling of being held like this. You felt warm and safe in his arms.
"I promise I will show up. Will you?" he asked.
"I promise," you whispered, feeling genuinely happy for the first time in a long while.
Changbin pulled back slightly, just enough to look into your eyes. "Tomorrow night, then?"
You nodded, your heart fluttering. "Tomorrow night. It's a date."
He brought you home and you exchanged phone numbers, and with one last lingering look, you both went your separate ways, a sense of anticipation filling the air.

The next day flew by in a blur of excitement and nervousness. You couldn't stop thinking about Changbin, replaying every moment of your unexpected night together. By the time evening rolled around, you were practically buzzing with energy.
You arrived at the restaurant you two texted about earlier a few minutes early, not wanting to risk being late. You had just settled into your seat when you saw Changbin walk in. He spotted you immediately and broke into a wide smile.
"Hey, you," he greeted, pulling you into a warm hug. "You look amazing."
"Thank you," you said, feeling your cheeks heat up. "You look great too."
The evening passed in a whirlwind of laughter and conversation. The connection you had felt the previous night only deepened, and you found yourself opening up to him in ways you hadn't with anyone else.
As you walked out of the restaurant hand in hand, you knew this was just the beginning of something special. The stars seemed to shine a little brighter, and the future felt full of endless possibilities.
Changbin looked down at you, his eyes full of warmth. "I'm really glad we met, Y/n."
"Me too, Changbin," you said, leaning your head against his shoulder and hugging his arm with your free hand. "Me too."
And as you walked together into the night, you knew that this was the start of a beautiful journey.
