The night air is cool as you pull up in front of Hyunjin's building, the quiet hum of the car engine fading as you come to a stop. It's been a beautiful evening—one of those nights where everything seemed to fall into place, from the laughter over dinner to the way he held your hand as you walked together under the stars. You glance over at him, taking in the soft smile playing on his lips, and your heart feels full.
"Thanks for tonight," he says, his voice warm and sincere. "I had a really great time."
"Me too," you reply, smiling as he leans over to press a gentle kiss to your cheek, his lips lingering just long enough to make you wish he didn't have to leave.
"I'll text you when I'm inside," he says, his voice low and tender as he steps out of the car.
You watch him walk to his door, waiting until he's safely inside before you start the car again. But as the engine purrs to life, the Bluetooth reconnects, and Hyunjin's phone automatically takes over the car's speakers. You're about to disconnect it, but before you can, you hear his voice, followed by another familiar one—Bang Chan.
"—just got home," Hyunjin says, his voice sounding distant as if he's moving around his apartment. "The date was amazing."
A pang of guilt hits you as you realize you're eavesdropping, but something in his tone keeps you from turning it off.
"How amazing?" Chan's voice teases, clearly fishing for details.
Hyunjin laughs softly, a sound that makes your heart flutter. "Like, the kind of amazing that makes you wonder how you got so lucky. She's incredible, Chan. I can't even put it into words."
You can't breathe. You sit there, your hands gripping the steering wheel as you listen to him, your heart swelling with every word.
"So, you're in deep, huh?" Chan asks, the teasing tone replaced by something more serious.
"I am," Hyunjin admits, his voice quieter now, more vulnerable. "I didn't expect to fall for her so hard, but I have. I'm in love with her, Chan. Like, really in love."
Your heart stops. He loves you. The realization hits you like a wave, overwhelming and beautiful. He loves you.
"Have you told her?" Chan asks.
"Not yet," Hyunjin says, and you can hear the nervousness in his voice. "I want to, but I'm scared. What if she doesn't feel the same? What if I ruin everything by saying it too soon?"
You can't take it anymore. You quickly disconnect the Bluetooth, silencing the conversation, and for a moment, you just sit there, your mind racing. He loves you. And he's afraid to tell you. The thought makes your heart ache for him, and you know you can't let him go on feeling this way, holding back something so important.
You don't even hesitate as you turn off the car, grab your bag, and head up to his door. Your heart is pounding, your hands trembling slightly as you knock, and when Hyunjin opens the door, the look of surprise on his face is almost enough to make you laugh.
"Y/N? What are you—did something happen?" he asks, concern flickering in his eyes as he steps aside to let you in.
You step into his apartment, trying to find the right words. "I, uh...I need to tell you something. Or maybe...explain something."
Hyunjin looks at you, clearly worried now. "What is it? You're making me nervous."
You take a deep breath, deciding to just go for it. "When I started the car, your phone was still connected to the Bluetooth. I heard your conversation with Chan."
His eyes widen, shock and embarrassment flashing across his face. "You...you heard?"
You nod, taking a step closer to him. "I did. And, Hyunjin, you don't have to be scared. I feel the same way. I love you, too."
For a moment, he just stares at you, as if he can't quite believe what he's hearing. Then, all at once, he pulls you into his arms, holding you so tightly that it takes your breath away.
"You do?" he whispers, his voice full of awe and relief. "You really do?"
You pull back just enough to look up at him, your hands resting on his chest. "I really do. I've wanted to tell you, but I didn't know how or when. But now...I'm just glad I heard you. I'm glad we don't have to keep this to ourselves anymore."
Hyunjin's expression softens, a smile spreading across his face as he leans down to kiss you. It's a kiss full of everything you've both been holding back—love, relief, and the promise of what's to come.
When he finally pulls away, he rests his forehead against yours, his breath mingling with yours as he whispers, "I love you, Y/N. I'm so in love with you."
You smile, your heart soaring as you whisper back, "I love you, too, Hyunjin. I'm all in."
And as he holds you close, you know that this is just the beginning of something beautiful—something you're both ready to embrace, together.
