author's note: I was literally crying while writing this lol. I think that's a good sign. Also, I'll go on vacation today, I need to leave for the airport in three hours and I haven't packed yet 🫶🏻

Your week was a disaster, leaving you on the brink of tears

Your week was a disaster, leaving you on the brink of tears. You worked until midnight every day, only to get fired today just for asking for a day off. To make things worse, your cat got sick, and the vet bill is astronomical. The only silver lining was meeting up with your best friend, Jisung, today. You desperately needed someone to talk to, maybe even a shoulder to cry on.

As you walked into the cafe where you two were meeting, your frown transformed into a smile the moment you saw him. Jisung was wearing the striped sweater you got him for his birthday and your matching shoes. His hair looked so fluffy today that you had the urge to run your fingers through it. The truth was, you had fallen for Jisung. Hard. Face-plant hard.

Jisung beamed when he saw you and stood up to pull you into a hug. "I missed you so much!" he giggled, "I ordered your favorite for you."

You clung to him, breathing in his scent and closing your eyes. "I missed you too. I had a really rough week," you mumbled.

"You wanna talk about it?" he asked, pushing you away slightly to look at you with concern.

"Maybe later. Tell me about your week first. I want to hear something nice for a change," you said, all your worries forgotten for just a few hours.

You two settled down. "I actually need to tell you something," he said, grinning like an idiot.

"What is it that makes you so happy?" you asked, amused, sipping on the iced matcha latte he ordered for you.

"I started seeing someone. Her name is Minji and I really like her," he said happily.

Your heart shattered at that very moment. It felt like a punch to the gut. You wanted to cry again on the spot but forced a smile to stay on your face. Of course, the universe had to kick you while you were down. "Minji from your company?" you asked, your voice sounding less happy than before.

"Yes! She is so nice, and I think it is serious this time," he was beaming so much that he didn't even notice the shift in your tone.

You fought against the tears in your eyes. "She's nice," you whispered. You had met her a few times. She was a stylist who often worked with Jisung for events. She was beautiful and always nice. Jisung deserved someone like her. She was everything you weren't.

"But let's talk about you... you had a bad week?" he asked, concerned again.

"Oh, it's nothing," you quickly said, "how did you two get together?"

He talked about her with a sparkle in his eyes that was once reserved for you. You were happy for him. He deserved to be happy. But your heart ached, and everything around you was falling apart.
