In the beginning, your relationship with Hyunjin was purely physical

In the beginning, your relationship with Hyunjin was purely physical. It was supposed to be simple, just sex with no strings attached. You both enjoyed each other's company, but it was all about the physical connection, nothing more. It worked for both of you—no expectations, no commitment, just two people who liked being together in that way. You'd meet up late at night, a few texts exchanged to see if the other was free, and then you'd end up at his place or yours. The nights were intense, passionate, but when morning came, you'd go your separate ways without much more than a casual goodbye.

But as time went on, something shifted. You started seeing each other more frequently, and not just for sex. There were nights when you'd meet up and end up watching a movie together, or simply talking about your day. Sometimes, you'd lie in bed together, just cuddling, no sex involved at all. Those nights were different—softer, more intimate in a way that had nothing to do with physical desire.

You never talked about what was happening between you. It was easier that way, not putting a label on it, not asking questions that might complicate things. But there was a growing comfort in those moments spent together, a quiet understanding that maybe this was becoming more than either of you had planned.

One evening, Hyunjin invited you out to a bar he liked—a cozy, dimly lit place that was perfect for an easy night out. You agreed, happy for an excuse to spend time with him outside of the usual settings. The night started off like any other. You laughed, talked, and enjoyed each other's company as you sipped your drinks. There was something relaxing about being out with him like this, where there were no expectations, just the two of you enjoying the evening.

After a while, you decided to grab another drink, leaving Hyunjin at the table while you made your way to the bar. You were waiting for your order when a guy approached you, clearly interested. He had a confident smile, and before you knew it, he was chatting you up, leaning in a little too close for comfort.

"Hey, can I buy you a drink?" he asked, his tone overly familiar.

You shook your head, trying to be polite but firm. "Thanks, but I'm here with someone."

The guy didn't seem to care, his smile widening as he glanced around. "I don't see anyone. Come on, just one drink?"

Before you could respond, you felt a familiar presence behind you. Hyunjin had appeared, slipping an arm around your waist with a casual possessiveness that sent a clear message. His voice was steady, but there was an edge to it as he spoke to the guy.

"She's not interested," Hyunjin said, his eyes narrowing slightly. "I'm her boyfriend."

The words hung in the air, and you felt your heart skip a beat, stunned by the sudden declaration. The guy looked between the two of you, clearly realizing he'd made a mistake. With a muttered apology, he backed off and disappeared into the crowd, leaving you alone with Hyunjin.

You turned to face him, still processing what he had just said. "Boyfriend?" you echoed, your voice a mix of surprise and something else you couldn't quite name.

Hyunjin met your gaze, his expression serious but tinged with something softer, almost vulnerable. "Yeah," he said, his voice quieter now, as if testing the words on his own tongue. "I'm your boyfriend."

For a moment, you just stared at him, the weight of what he'd said settling over you. You hadn't defined your relationship before, hadn't even really talked about it. But hearing him say it now, claiming you like that, stirred something deep within you.

Instead of questioning it, you found yourself nodding slowly, a small smile tugging at the corners of your lips. "Okay," you said softly, accepting the new label with a sense of relief you hadn't realized you needed. "Boyfriend."

Hyunjin's shoulders relaxed, a faint smile appearing as he threaded his fingers through yours. It felt different, more significant, like you had crossed an invisible line together. There was no going back now, but for once, that didn't scare you.

The rest of the night felt lighter, easier. You returned to the table, your hand still in his, and everything just seemed to click into place. The conversation flowed, and the comfortable silence between you was now filled with a new understanding. There was no need for further explanation—what you had was finally out in the open, and neither of you wanted to take it back.

When the night finally wound down and you found yourselves back at your place, there was no awkwardness or hesitation. Hyunjin pulled you into his arms, kissing you deeply, and this time it felt different—not just an expression of physical desire but of something more. When you finally crawled into bed, you lay there together, wrapped in each other's arms, simply enjoying the closeness, the new sense of belonging.

You might not have defined your relationship before, but tonight, Hyunjin had made it clear where he stood, and you weren't going to argue. Instead, you embraced it, letting the warmth of his embrace lull you to sleep, content in the knowledge that whatever this was, it was real, and it was yours.
