The afternoon sunlight filtered through Jeongin's living room, casting a soft, warm glow over everything. The two of you were curled up on his couch, a movie playing in the background, but you weren't really paying attention to it. Your mind was elsewhere, clouded with the thoughts that had been plaguing you since you saw those rumors online earlier that day.
It had been a simple post, just a few people speculating about Jeongin possibly dating someone. You knew it wasn't true—or at least, you told yourself it wasn't. But the idea had stirred something inside you that you hadn't expected. It made you realize just how much you cared about him, how much you wanted him to be yours and only yours.
So today, you found yourself being unusually clingy. Normally, you were content with just sitting beside Jeongin, close but not too close. But today, you couldn't help it. You leaned into his side, your head resting on his shoulder as you curled up against him. Your fingers absentmindedly played with the hem of his shirt, and every now and then, you would adjust yourself to be even closer, as if seeking comfort in his presence.
Jeongin noticed right away. You weren't usually this physically affectionate, and while he wasn't complaining, he couldn't help but be curious. He found your sudden clinginess adorable, but it also made him wonder what had brought it on.
"You're really cuddly today," he remarked lightly, a teasing smile on his lips as he looked down at you. "Not that I'm complaining, but it's a little different for you."
You felt your cheeks warm at his comment, but instead of pulling away, you only snuggled closer, your heart fluttering in your chest. You knew you had to ask him, even if it sounded ridiculous.
"Jeongin?" you murmured, your voice soft and hesitant.
"Hm?" He glanced at you, his eyes filled with that familiar warmth that always made you feel safe.
"Can I ask you something?" Your fingers stilled on his shirt as you bit your lip, gathering the courage to speak.
"Of course," he replied, his tone gentle and reassuring.
You took a deep breath, your heart pounding as you finally voiced the question that had been on your mind all day. "If... if you were dating someone, would you tell me?"
Jeongin blinked in surprise, his brow furrowing slightly as he tried to process what you were asking. "Dating someone?" he repeated, clearly confused. "Why would you ask that?"
You hesitated, feeling a bit foolish now that the words were out in the open. "I saw something online," you admitted, your voice barely above a whisper. "Some rumors about you... dating someone. I know it's probably not true, but it just made me wonder... if you were, would you tell me?"
Understanding dawned on Jeongin's face, and his expression softened as he realized what was bothering you. He gently reached out, lifting your chin so you were looking at him. "Y/N, those rumors aren't true," he said softly, his thumb brushing over your cheek. "I'm not dating anyone."
Relief washed over you, but there was still a small part of you that needed more reassurance. "But if you were?" you pressed, your voice still tentative.
Jeongin looked at you, his gaze full of warmth and something deeper, something that made your heart skip a beat. He didn't say anything at first, just studied your face as if trying to figure out exactly what you were feeling.
Then, without warning, he leaned in and kissed you.
The kiss was soft and gentle, his lips warm against yours as he poured all the unspoken emotions into that one moment. It wasn't rushed or hurried; it was tender, full of the affection he had been holding back for so long. Your breath caught in your throat as you realized what was happening, and for a moment, you froze, overwhelmed by the suddenness of it.
But then you melted into the kiss, your hands moving to rest on his chest as you kissed him back. The warmth of his touch, the way he held you so carefully, made your heart swell with emotions you could no longer deny.
When he finally pulled back, he kept his forehead pressed against yours, his breath mingling with yours as he smiled softly. "I'm seeing someone now," he murmured, his voice teasing but full of affection.
You blinked, your heart still racing from the kiss as you looked up at him in confusion. "What?" you asked, your voice shaky.
Jeongin's smile widened, and he gently cupped your cheek, his thumb tracing soft circles on your skin. "You," he said simply, his eyes shining with a mixture of amusement and something deeper, something that made your heart flutter. "I'm seeing you."
A laugh bubbled up in your chest, both from the relief and the sheer joy of the moment. You playfully swatted his chest, unable to keep the smile off your face. "You scared me for a second!"
Jeongin chuckled, leaning in to press another kiss to your lips, this one more confident and assured. "I'm sorry," he murmured against your lips, though his tone was anything but apologetic. "But I couldn't resist."
You smiled into the kiss, feeling a warmth spread through you that you hadn't felt before. All the insecurities and doubts from earlier melted away, replaced by the certainty that this—being with Jeongin, kissing him, being the one he wanted—was all you needed.
As the two of you settled back into the couch, still wrapped up in each other, you couldn't help but feel a sense of contentment and happiness that you hadn't felt in a long time. You knew that no matter what rumors or uncertainties might come your way, you and Jeongin were in this together. And that was more than enough.
