It's a quiet afternoon, and you're in the middle of doing laundry, moving around the apartment as the sounds of everyday life hum softly in the background. The sunlight filters through the curtains, casting warm patterns across the floor as you sort through the clothes, humming to yourself. There's something oddly satisfying about these simple tasks—folding, sorting, and making everything neat and tidy.
You pick up Felix's jacket from the pile, one of his favorites, and check the pockets like you always do, making sure there's nothing left inside. As your fingers brush against something small and hard, you pause, curiosity piqued. You pull it out, expecting to find a stray coin or maybe a receipt, but instead, you're holding a small velvet box.
Your breath catches in your throat as you stare down at the box in your hand. You know what this is, and your heart starts to race as you slowly open it. Inside, nestled in the soft velvet, is a beautiful engagement ring, sparkling in the light.
Your mind races, emotions swirling as you look at the ring. You weren't expecting this, not now, not like this. You've talked about the future with Felix before, but finding the ring like this, hidden away in his jacket pocket, feels so surreal.
For a moment, you just sit there, staring at the ring, your heart beating wildly in your chest. Then, you hear the sound of the front door opening, and a moment later, Felix's voice calls out.
"Y/N? I'm home!"
You quickly close the box, your hands trembling slightly, and look up just as Felix walks into the room. The moment he sees you sitting there with the box in your hand, his eyes widen, and a look of pure panic crosses his face.
"Oh no," he mutters, rushing over to you. "I... I can't believe I left that in there. I'm so sorry, Y/N, this wasn't how I wanted you to find out."
He looks genuinely upset, his brow furrowed with worry, and you can't help but feel a pang of guilt for finding the ring before he was ready. But more than anything, you feel an overwhelming sense of love and happiness. This is Felix, the person you love more than anything, and he's been planning to ask you to spend the rest of your lives together.
"Felix," you say softly, your voice full of emotion as you reach out to take his hand. "It's okay. I'm not upset—I'm just... so happy."
He looks at you, his expression softening as he takes a deep breath, trying to steady himself. "I wanted it to be perfect," he says, his voice full of sincerity. "I had this whole plan, but... well, I guess it doesn't matter now."
"It doesn't have to be perfect," you assure him, squeezing his hand. "All that matters is that it's you."
Felix lets out a small, relieved laugh, his eyes shining with affection. "You always know how to make me feel better," he murmurs. Then, as if making a decision, he gently takes the box from your hand and kneels down next to you.
You feel your heart swell as you watch him kneel before you, his hand shaking slightly as he opens the box again, revealing the ring. He looks up at you, his eyes full of love and a little bit of nervousness.
"Y/N," he begins, his voice steady but filled with emotion, "I've loved you for so long, and I can't imagine my life without you. You make everything brighter, better, just by being with me. I know this isn't how I planned it, but... will you marry me?"
Tears well up in your eyes as you look down at him, overwhelmed by the love and sincerity in his voice. This moment, though unexpected, feels perfect in its own way, and there's no hesitation as you nod, a smile spreading across your face.
"Yes," you say, your voice full of joy. "Yes, Felix, I'll marry you."
His face lights up with the brightest smile you've ever seen, and he quickly slips the ring onto your finger before standing up and pulling you into his arms. You both laugh and cry, holding each other close as the reality of what just happened sinks in.
"I love you so much," Felix whispers into your hair, his voice trembling with emotion.
"I love you too," you reply, holding him even tighter. "I can't wait to spend the rest of my life with you."
And as he kisses you, soft and full of promise, you know that this moment—this imperfect, unplanned moment—is exactly what you wanted. It's real, it's full of love, and it's yours.
