You'd always known Han Jisung was a little eccentric. It was part of his charm—his spontaneity, his unpredictable humor, the way he could go from making you laugh to melting your heart in a matter of seconds. But lately, he'd been acting... different. Not bad different, just a little more intense, like he was living out scenes from some over-the-top romance drama.
The first time it happened, you didn't think much of it. You were walking back from the convenience store, arms full of snacks, when the sky suddenly opened up and rain began to pour. You groaned, picking up your pace, already imagining how soaked you'd be by the time you got home. But then, just as the first raindrops splattered against your skin, an umbrella appeared over your head, shielding you from the downpour.
You turned to see Jisung standing there, holding the umbrella with a wide, almost triumphant smile on his face. He was dry, completely unbothered by the fact that he seemed to have appeared out of nowhere.
"Where did you come from?" you asked, genuinely perplexed.
"Just in time, right?" he replied, completely ignoring your question. He held the umbrella a little closer, guiding you under its cover as you continued walking.
It was sweet, really, but something about the whole scene felt... rehearsed, almost. You brushed it off as Jisung just being his usual thoughtful self, but the odd feeling lingered.
The next strange encounter happened in the practice room. You were working through a particularly tricky routine when you caught sight of Jisung leaning against the mirror, watching you with a thoughtful expression. He'd been hanging around a lot more lately, and while you didn't mind the company, there was something in his gaze that made you nervous.
You took a break, wiping the sweat from your brow, when Jisung suddenly pushed off from the mirror and walked toward you with purpose. Before you could say anything, he grabbed your hand and spun you around, pinning you against the wall. Your breath hitched as he leaned in, his face inches from yours.
"What are you doing?" you asked, your voice barely above a whisper.
"Just... felt like it," he murmured, his eyes locked on yours. And then, without warning, he kissed you—passionately, like something out of a drama you'd watch on a lazy Sunday.
When he pulled back, you were left blinking in shock, your heart racing for reasons you couldn't fully comprehend. Jisung just grinned, looking entirely too pleased with himself, and then, as quickly as he'd approached, he let you go and strolled out of the room, leaving you to process what had just happened.
The incidents kept piling up. He'd show up with an umbrella whenever it rained, even if you hadn't mentioned going out. Once, you'd stumbled on a loose tile in the hallway, only to have Jisung miraculously catch you just before you fell—though you could've sworn you saw him nudge that tile earlier. And every time, he'd look at you with that same intense, smoldering gaze, like he was waiting for you to react just like the female lead in a drama would.
You were beyond confused, but the last straw came when you got home early one day. The dorm was quiet, and you were looking forward to some peace and quiet. As you stepped into the living room, you heard the low hum of a TV and spotted Jisung on the couch, totally engrossed in whatever he was watching.
Curious, you tiptoed closer, peeking over his shoulder at the screen. He didn't notice you, too focused on the scene playing out in front of him. It was a classic romance drama—two characters standing in the rain, one holding an umbrella over the other as they shared a passionate, tearful confession.
Jisung was mumbling to himself, clearly trying to commit every detail to memory. "Alright, so that's how you do the umbrella thing... And the kiss, just at the right moment... I've got to try that next time."
You couldn't help but burst out laughing, startling him so badly that he almost fell off the couch. He whipped around, eyes wide as he saw you standing there, tears of laughter streaming down your face.
"Y/N! You're home early," he stammered, scrambling to turn off the TV, but it was too late. You'd already seen everything.
"Jisung, have you been... acting out scenes from K-dramas this whole time?" you asked, still laughing.
He looked like a deer caught in headlights, his face flushing a deep red. "Uh, well... maybe?"
You shook your head, finally catching your breath. "So that's why you've been acting so weird lately. The umbrella, the dramatic kisses, the random hero moments—those were all from dramas?"
Jisung looked down, rubbing the back of his neck sheepishly. "I just... I wanted to do something different. I thought it'd be fun to, you know, bring some drama into real life. But I didn't think you'd catch on so soon."
You couldn't help but smile at his embarrassment. It was ridiculous, sure, but it was also kind of sweet. Jisung had always had a flair for the dramatic, but this was next level, and the fact that he'd gone to such lengths to recreate those scenes just to make things more interesting for you made your heart swell.
"Jisung, you're such a dork," you said, still smiling. "But I have to admit, it was... kind of cute."
He finally looked up, relief washing over his face as he saw your reaction. "You're not mad?"
You shook your head. "No, I'm not mad. Why should I be mad? Confused, sure, but it was actually kind of fun. Just... maybe warn me next time you're planning on reenacting something."
Jisung grinned, the tension finally easing from his shoulders. "Deal. But don't think I'm going to stop entirely. I kind of like this K-drama life."
You rolled your eyes playfully, but there was a warmth in your chest that hadn't been there before. "Fine, but only if I get to pick the next scene."
Jisung's eyes lit up with excitement. "Deal! We'll be the best drama couple ever."
As you both settled in on the couch, the awkwardness of the past few days melted away, replaced by a comfortable, teasing banter. You knew life with Jisung would never be boring, and honestly, you wouldn't have it any other way.
