Jin: Inari? Are you okay?
Jin said looking at Inari. Her face was completely red but she looked confused. But she also seemed happy. She seemed distressed. The mix of emotions on her face confused not only Jin but also the two foxes he held in his arm. They had never seen her make such a face. Not in the near 20 years of knowing her. Even the foxes that had lived for a thousand years would have never seen this look on her face.
The reason there was such confusion even with Inari, was because this was a new face. She had never felt this way before.
Inari: What... What did you just say?
Jin: Erm... Are you okay?
Inari: I mean before that!
Inari said as if she was panicked, but she quickly widened her eyes and covered her mouth, shocked that she raised her voice. She placed her hand on her chest as she felt her heart racing. Beating faster than ever before. At that moment, she had an F1 engine for a heart. Rushing just as fast as her thoughts.
Inari: I... I'm sorry. Just... What did you say before that?
Jin: What, that I pray for your happiness? Was that rude to say?
Jin asked confused. He thought that since Inari was a Kami, a goddess, maybe he was accidentally rude in some way. Maybe it was the same as calling a Fallen Angel a crow or asking him to bark.
But Jin couldn't have been more wrong.
Inari: Do... Do you really mean that?
Jin: Why wouldn't I mean it? Not only do you seem like a nice person, but isn't it normal to want happiness for other people?
Inari: But... I'm a goddess. You... Do you really pray for my happiness?
Inari asked as the redness on her face faded and she looked at Jin seriously. But strangely she kept her hand to her chest. As if she was trying to measure her heart rate.
Jin: If that means you'll receive happiness, of course.
Jin said with a smile that naturally appeared. Chemicals flooded his brain because of this strange connection he had with Inari, just holding her hand and the connection was stronger, making him feel happier. Yet he couldn't have smiled at a more correct moment as the foxes looked at him and understood the charm Jin had. The foxes looked at each other and giggled, licking each other and pressing their noses against each other. As if showing affection to each other. All the while, Inari gently smiled and looked at Jin. Slowly moving her hand from her chest as if she was done feeling the beat of her heart.
She knew what she felt.
Inari: You're really adorable Jin~. Not just that, you're terribly cute~.
Jin looked at Inaris gentle smile and blushed. He didn't know why Inari found him adorable and cute. He didn't think he was any of those things. He was 6 foot 7 inches in height and had a well-defined build you wouldn't see in anyone. It wasn't something people would typically find cute.
Inari: You don't know much about gods, do you?
Jin: I am a bit ignorant about it. I'm ignorant about many things. Though, why are you asking? Did I do something wrong?
Inari: No. Actually, you said something that meant a lot. You prayed for me.
Jin: Don't you normally have that?
Inari: No, I am prayed to, never for.
Inari said as that was the life of a god. All gods were beings that had religion to their name. For Inari, it was the Shinto religion. For God, it was the Christian religion. Buddhism, Hinduism, Norse mythology, and Greek mythology. All gods were "higher beings" that humans prayed to.
