Jin was on his regular routine again. Early in the morning, Jin would do some cardio around Kuoh. Getting much better and not as exhausted as he would have been before. Able to run the whole thing with Ban. Only breaking a minor sweat. Working out was getting a lot better and his strength was improving. Jin would then have breakfast and begin his day learning. Practicing martial arts and Senjutsu. Then he would do his usual, going to the park to play Hex at chess. On weekends Aika would sit on his lap and watch. Talking of her day. Recently she had been telling Jin how she was doing gymnastics as she wanted to be as active as Jin, yet she wasn't strong and this was the next best thing. She enjoyed showing Jin her cartwheels in the park and Jin was genuinely impressed. She seemed much happier and she was good at it. Then Jin would go home, by himself and on weekends with Aika. Practising a bit more and then having dinner. Going to bed later on with his giant stuffed Snorlax.
But things had changed. Ban now took Jin out from time to time. Taking him on activities such as bowling, to cafes and movies. Jin was happy that Ban was getting closer to him. But he didn't show that. He refused to show that side to Ban.
But as was Jin's life, it was never normal. Especially when he wasn't a normal person to begin with. Right now playing a game of chess with Hex like any normal Friday. With Hex looking at the board currently in check, and Jin looking at Hex with a expressionless poker face. Seeing his own mistake, which Hex finnaly realised, moving out of check and a few moves later, putting Jin into a checkmate.
Jin: *Sigh* You were born to play chess weren't you? There has to be a reason you're this good besides practice.
Hex: Hahaha! A lot of practice is all it is! Though I have to say, you had me on the ropes that time.
Jin: Comming from the Chessmaster Hex that's a...
Suddenly Jin's body moved back for an instinctive reason. More accurately sensing something while Jin was practising Senjutsu, which Jin wasn't consciously aware of yet. Looking at Hex's surprised face he hadn't seen before, and looking at the fist in front of him.
Jin: A hand?
Suddenly Jins top was tugged as he was pulled off his chair onto the floor. Looking at three older kids pushing Hex off his chair and taking his chess pieces. Two older children next to Jin for five grown kids. But there was something strange. They were all in martial arts gi. White gi with fabric belts.
Quickly Jin got back up as he ran in front of Hex and stood in front of him.
???: Hey! The little kids protecting the old man!
???: That's adorable!
The two kids walked to the other three as they were in a group of five. Looking at Jin as he took a deep breath.
Jin: Those aren't yours. Give them back before someone gets hurt.
Hex: Jin it's ok. I-I'll just buy more pieces.
???: Listen to the old crow kid! Besides, if he can buy nice pieces like these I'm sure he could buy more. {I knew I saw something good out of the corner of my eye! Selling these should get us a nice amount. They're expensive. Plus, the blond hair, red eyes. Isn't this the kid that that those small wimps were calling monster?}
Jin looked at all 5 of the boys. They were much bigger than Jin. All probably much older than Jins age of 10. But this was not okay.
Jin: Hex, it's not okay. They're only hurting us because they believe that they have the power to beat up the small and the weak. When they don't realise how small they really are.
???: What did you just say?!
Jin: I said you're small. On top of that, weak. That's why am going to give you one last chance. Because my old man would scold me if I didn't. Give Hex back the pieces you've stolen, apologise, and run on home like good little boys.
The boys were all pissed at this point. Looking at Jin as if he was a dead man. But Hex behind him looked impressed at Jin. He had seen Jin previously beat up the two children that hurt Aika years ago. But if you were to compare the Jin now to the one from back then. While there was anger in Jin, it wasn't pouring out like it did back then. It was comparable to a quiet lake or a flickering flame. Gentle but no less deadly. Jin didn't have a violent expression. He was calm and collected. Learning lots from these years he was with Ban and experiencing life in Kuoh. Learning more in these four years than many would in their entire lives.
???: WHOSE SMALL YOU LITTLE SHIT?!
Quickly the boy jumped up high and span around multiple times to deliver a powerful reverse roundhouse kick to Jins face. The red sneakers of the boy marking Jins face as he held his face. Quickly the boy backed up as he smiled.
???: How do you like that?! I heard from two kids in my dojo you knew how to fight, but nothing will compare to our Hyper Karate! You're even too stunned to speak after receiving my Flying Reverse Round-House Lightning Kick!
The boys laughed as Jin moved his hand from his face and looked at it. Blood. There was something in his mouth too as he spat it out. Blood. But yet there wasn't a hint of worry or panic coursing through Jin. The lake remained still, and the flickering flame didn't go out.
The Hyper Karate this kid practiced while sounding funny, revolved around karate kicks centered at different directions and intervals. Making quick and fast spins to deliver powerful kicks based on momentum. The Hyper in it was just a few quick added spins. While it was powerful and used bodily momentum more effectively. It nothing more than that.
Jin: Are you cliche movie supervillains? Hyper Karate? What a joke.
???: YOU...
Quickly Jins body flowed like water and flickered like a flame. Weaving in unpredictable motions like a dancing flame or flicker river. The larger boy couldn't even tell what happened next as Jin jumped and preformed a Flying Reverse Round-House Lightning Kick in 5 different spins. All while using part of the Exploding Heart Release Fist. Hitting the kid with the bottom of his foot in a boom loud enough to compare think it was a grenade.
It caused the kid to fly off his feet and spin, bouncing off the floor and falling on it completely unconscious with his jaw badly damaged. Jin took a deep breath as he stood there looking at the boy. The others were shocked Jin preformed the Flying Reverse Round-House Lightning Kick just from looking at it, but they were kidding themselves to think it was hard. It was nothing compared to the other martial arts he had learned as Jin watched them all step back.
Jin: You've got the wrong idea to think you're running away. I would never let those who hurt others get away so easily. But I don't have a tendency to beat up the weak. So I'll only hit you once, then take back Hex's pieces.
All the boys shook as they couldn't control their body. They couldn't let go of the pieces and run.
They incurred a silent wrath they were terrified of. Drowning in a silent lake and getting engulfed by the fire of a small flickering flame.
