Jin: And to top it all off. I don't regret a thing. If it didn't happen, I wouldn't be here. But even in the moment, I didn't regret it.
Jin said as he was sat down at Akenos table. Hearing that he was going to be going to Kyoto meant a lot. It meant he was going home, but it also meant he had to tell who he was going with about his past. Hiding it was wrong, and if they couldn't hang around him because of it, he understood. If they hated him because he killed a child when he was young, he would understand. Even he found it hard to look at himself sometimes. Regardless of if it was an accident. He killed a child and didn't regret it. In no way was that right.
In many ways, he was a monster.
Akeno, Rias and Sona sat opposite Jin as they listened to his every word. Not once did they say anything while Jin spoke of his past. Mittelt and Aika sat around the table with Jin. But Aika already knew. Jin told her when they were young and while she wasn't going on the trip as a first year, Jin wanted her here. But Mittelt was just finding out. Jin was now only waiting for an answer from all of them.
The room was in silence.
Mittelt: Well this is great! You know every place to go in Kyoto!
Rias: I was worrying because I couldn't think of a plan. But now we have a tour guide.
Akeno: It is very convenient for us.
Sona: I want to travel with all of you, but my peerage want to travel as a group to some places. One of them is a good escape room in Kyoto, they think I won't be able to figure it out. That they'll trap me in there.
Jin looked at everyone as they began to casually talk and it couldn't have confused Jin more. He just confessed to killing a child. 6 years old, the same age he was at the time. They didn't seem indifferent to it. It seemed like they were trying to say it wasn't a big deal.
Jin: I... I killed a child. I've just confessed to most of you about that. It's your first time hearing this and it doesn't seem like a big deal to you.
Everyone stopped talking and looked at Jin. Looking at each other as if asking each other what they were meant to say. What they could have said to Jin? They know what to say to such a thing. This wasn't a normal situation. Not only that, the situation Jin described wasn't normal. Nothing could have prepared them for such a situation.
But Rias was the first to speak.
Rias: Jin. You know of the Devil Civil War correct?
Jin: I know of it. Sona educated me on the supernatural in my first few months of meeting her.
Jin said as Sona went in great depth about the Civil War. The Devil Civil War was a conflict between the descendants of the Satan Clans, four people and clans that ruled over all Devils and other noble clans. They were Devils that wanted to restart a Great War with the Heavens and the Fallen Angels. Fighting against the opposing side the Anti-Satan Faction, that believed another war could lead the Devil race into extinction.
It was a war that temporarily left the Devil race in ruin and still had lasting effects on it. A Devil on Devil war that led to the Anti-Satan Faction winning in the end. The previous four Satan rulers were replaced. One of which was Serafall.
Rias: As you know my brother is a Satan. He is strong, and he participated in the civil war. He likely killed hundreds, thousands of people. But knowing this, I've never once judged him for it. He's killed many more people than you, but I never saw him differently. That's because the intentions behind his actions and the reason he was fighting weren't wrong. He is a good person. Jin you fought those people... children as a child. You did so to save another. You yourself were getting beaten up and accidentally killed one of them fighting back. No one can blame or fault you for what happened. I know you will hold yourself accountable for what happened. But my views on you won't change.
Rias said as Jin looked at her nearly shocked. But his heart felt at ease knowing she wouldn't view him any differently knowing what he did. He didn't want to lose any of his friends again. Especially not the people he loved.
Mittelt: I... I have killed devils before. Regardless of whether it was my job or self-defence. Regardless of whether I hated them or not, I can never fault others for doing what I have done. My love for you will never change Jin.
Mittelt said holding close to Jin as he gently smiled. Jin was happy that Mittelt was still with him. That she wouldn't leave or hurt him.
Akeno: Killing a child, it's wrong. Even under your circumstances Jin, I know why you fault yourself for it. But you have carried this burden on your shoulders the whole time. You can only continue to hold that weight. Continue being honest about it, and continue to accept those who accept you for who you are and what you have done. I accept what you have done Jin, but it will never change what is special between us.
Akeno said with a gentle smile which brought one to Jins. Making her even more happy she said what she felt in her heart. Because she couldn't say what he did was fine. It wasn't. But she knew Jin, he wasn't a bad person and that's all she needed to know. But at the same time, she felt something. She wanted to tell him something else. Something she couldn't say now.
Sona: I'm not going to say why my views of you Jin, why my respect, admiration and love for you won't change. But what I will ask is, do you want to go back to Kyoto Jin? I know confronting your guardian will be hard. But you don't have to do it if you don't want to.
Aika: Right! If you really think they'll say something that bad to you, let the past be the past! You haven't seen any attempts online to find you. A missing person notice or anything!
Aika said, but Jin could only smile. Taking a deep breath as he had already made up his mind. He made up his mind a year ago before he entered Kuoh Academy. Years ago when Ban left him.
Jin: I'm going. My house will be done before I'm back, so I've asked for the keys to be delivered to the Kiryuu residence. If they're not busy, they'll move all of Aikas and Mittelts stuff back in. I've already prepared my bag. This has been a long time coming. I'm ready for it.
Everyone looked at Jin. Some were concerned, others worried and some were happy that Jin was going to be going back. Potentially relieving a burden placed on him.
Jin was ready.
Jin: So, I know a few places we could go when in Kyoto.
Jin said and any worried faces turned into a smile as they discussed what they could do. Aika learning for next year's trip.
