Everyone got upstairs, to the second floor where Jin's house was decorated as if a massive party was about to start. LED lights from their previous Haunted house idea lined his halls. Paperchains and balloons all around in classic party fashion. But the smell in the air, Jin could remember it. Not only was their food made by Rias, but pastries of Akeno, food of Aika something she prepared and kept hidden at Akenos home. But not only that, Jin could smell it, a cake made by Yasaka.
As they got to the dining room, the low table had Jins favourite cake. A red velvet cake. It was much larger than Jin had seen before. It was meant for many people. A large four-layer red velvet cake with cream cheese icing stood on the table as the centrepiece. Jin knew each layer of the cake would have had a rich, vibrant red colour. His mouth watered remembering the moist, tender crumbs.
He looked at each layer nearly drooling, spread with a generous amount of smooth, creamy cream cheese icing. The cake looked just as beautiful as Jin knew it tasted. It was frosted beautifully with thick layers. The spread was clean and had an elegant look. Swirls of icing, crumbled red velvet cake crumbs, or a dusting of powdered sugar.
Jin was willing to skip all the gifts just to taste the cake again. He wanted to taste the cake immediately, remembering a piece of his childhood. But Yasaka persisted that opening the presents first was the better idea. Holding his hand and nearly dragging him from the table full of food. Sitting him down to receive his presents, so then the party could really start.
On top of that, just to make sure Jin had no plans of quickly disappearing and eating, it was decided that every small person would sit on his lap. Mittelt, Kunou and Koneko. All made sure so he couldn't get up, all sat on his lap in that order, from left to right.
Jin: I'm not going to dive into the cake, at most I wanted to taste the icing.
Koneko: You won't touch that cake without me.
Koneko said planting herself on Jins right leg. His legs were crossed and she wasn't going to let him have cake without her. Kunou was just ecstatic sat between his legs and Mittelt was happy on his left leg.
Sona: I think I would like to give the first gift. So this is from me and my peerage.
Sona said passing Jin a square-shaped present, handing him it wrapped in blue shimmering wrapping paper with a purple ribboned bow.
Saji: The idea was from Sona, but we all chipped in to buy it.
Saji said as Sona knew it would mean more if it was from all of them. She could have used her own money, but then she could have brought anything. She could have filled this room with presents. But this was a special gift. While money could buy this, it couldn't buy its meaning.
So Jin handed the present to Kunou and she smiled with a beaming glow. Her designated position, her title, The Unwrapper.
She ripped apart the present wrappers, tearing the paper apart quickly to see the present inside. Holding the present up as if presenting it to everyone around. Her behaviour and her excitement caused everyone to smile at how happy she was. Holding it up for Jin to take and hold. Kunou was a bundle of joy, giggling with a pure smile. Causing everyone to obsess over Kunous cuteness.
She was often annoying, but she was undoubtedly cute.
However, as Jin looked at the present, it was black, it was white, and it was made of the most beautiful marble. It was a marble chessboard.
Sona: You have the pieces, so I was thinking you should have a chess board to go with it.
Tsubaki: It was strange to hear you have no chess board at home, so the present only made sense.
