Days went by and the Kyoto trip was here. In the early morning, Jin was at the station with his bag. A black duffle bag full and stuffed with his things.
The whole of the 2nd year class was at the station waiting for the train to arrive. All while Jin looked not at the railway the rest of the students were facing slightly towards, but Jin was looking back at Kuoh. Standing with Sona, Rias, Akeno, Mittelt and Sona's peerage. All but Saji, Kiba, Aika and others of Sona's peerage couldn't come. Though they would get this trip next year. It was a yearly trip for the 2nd years.
But as everyone conversed, Jin kept looking at Kuoh. Standing a part from the group. But Rias walked over to Jin to stand beside him. She looked at him, then looked at where he was staring.
Rias: What are you looking at?
Jin: Nothing much. I'm just thinking about the others that couldn't come on this trip. Did you tell Koneko?
Jin said as he continued looking in one direction. With Rias trying to find out exactly what he was looking at. What had caught his attention?
Rias: Don't worry, I've told her. Though I can't say she was happy hearing you were leaving for a few days. She actually expressed immense displeasure that you wouldn't be here. {Which surprised me. I've never seen her so moody and disappointed.} But she understood and said to have fun.
Jin: That's good.
Jin said, but he didn't look away from wherever he was staring at. It wasn't a creepy stare. His concentration was just fixed with a steady blinking. Yet no matter how hard Rias tried, she couldn't guess what Jin was looking at. Keeping his back to Kuoh Train Station. She looked at a brick wall, people walking by, but she didn't believe it was any of them.
Rias: Ok. What are you looking at?! Is there another girl that's caught your eye?
Jin: What? No. It's just... it's pretty stupid.
Rias looked at Jin, then looked at his empty right hand as she slowly held it. Intertwining her fingers with his. Yet he didn't look away. He kept looking away from the train station. So Rias did too, looking away from the train station. Looking at Kuoh and taking it in.
Rias: You... You can tell me. I promise I won't find it stupid even if you do. I... I will never judge you.
Rias said as she clenched Jin's hand. It wasn't only that Rias wasn't going to judge Jin. When the time came, she would hope that Jin wouldn't judge her. For doing and not doing something important.
Jin: I... *Sigh* I'm looking at what I missed the first time I came running out of this station.
Rias: When you first came to Kuoh?
Jin: Yes. I... I came running out of here. I missed so much. The sounds of the people around, the blue sky, the buildings of Kuoh. When I was running I missed the sight of the town I was running into. Yet now I'm leaving, I notice no one's looking back at it. To excited to leave it, to go to Kyoto. But... a part of me still wants to stay here. To not go, to not hear the words I know will hurt my heart.
Rias looked at Jin as she looked around. Jin was right. Everyone was excited. Looking down the tracks waiting for the train expectantly. Talking to their friends about what they were going to do. But not once were they looking back at what they were leaving. The family members they were leaving at home. The friends, clubs or activities. They didn't look back. Yet Jin did. People looked into the future, and their interests laid there. Yet the past made Jin. In the life he developed in Kuoh, he was comfortable there. This was his past and he did want to leave it. He didn't want to hear words he knew would destroy him. He didn't want the image of his kind, loving guardian destroyed.
It meant everything to him.
Rias could only look at Jin and understand his hesitation. His worry. Walking in front of him, holding both of his hands as his handheld bag dropped to the floor and Rias dropped her suitcase.
Rias: Jin, please look at me.
Slowly Jin looked down, looking at Rias who looked into his crimson eyes. She looked into his eyes with her blue eyes, she gazed into them, and her gaze lived in his crimson eyes. His eyes made her gently smile.
Rias: We don't have to go. Right here, right now, if you don't want to go, I can take you to a hundred better places. I could take you to the Underworld. I could book us last-minute tickets to Tokyo. I will have fun wherever we go. With you. You just need to say the word and it's me and you together. You don't need to go through this and if you do, you don't need to go through it alone.
Jin looked down at Rias and her smile. She wasn't joking or saying things just to make him feel better. Right now she would have ran away with Jin. Enjoyed a trip somewhere else while the others went to Kyoto. She didn't want Jin to feel like he was being forced into this. Being forced to confront a pain he didn't want to suffer. She knew a lot about being forced to do things she didn't want to do. She wouldn't want to put that on anyone, especially not Jin. But the words Rias said couldn't have meant more. Because they meant everything to Jin. Leaning down and giving her a small kiss on her lips. Looking at her face go red.
Jin: Thank you Rias. But this is something I have to do and I'll do it alone. But... I'll get it over and done with. I'll go straight from the train station back home, then I'll meet you all in the hotel. However, can you promise me you'll make me feel better afterwards?
Rias looked at Jin as a light blush formed on her face. A small smile to match how she felt.
Rias: I'll make sure you'll look back at this trip with a smile on your face.
Rias said as she looked Jin in his eyes. They both slowly leaned in, getting closer to another kiss. But it was interrupted. Interrupted with Mittelt jumped on Jins back.
Mittelt: I'll make sure you have the best time of your life! Me and you and our first school trip!
Mittelt said clinging to Jin as she wrapped her legs around him, wrapping her arms around his neck to hold on. Almost like a bear hug on his back.
Akeno: I'll make sure you'll enjoy yourself~. Boys and girls may be in separate rooms but you can always sneak into Rias, mine and Mittelts room~.
Akeno said clinging onto Jin and looking at Rias. Giving her a wink as she blushed a crimson look. She knew exactly what Akeno meant, what she was aiming for. Clinging onto Jin and looking at Akeno.
Rias: Don't think I'll let you have him first Akeno!
Akeno: Always so possessive. You know sharing can be fun too~.
Akeno said as they pulled on Jin, with Mittelt on Jins back shaking about in the pulling of Jin's arms. With Sona looking at Jin and the rest catching glances at something on his face.
A smile.
