Jin was falling from the sky, barreling in a rapid spin he had no control of. He was a strong man, very strong. But with his small fox body at the speed he was shot off at, fox body or not, it was certain death. If he changed to his human form he would only spin more out of control. This spin wasn't something that could be controlled by someone who lacked flight, but in such a small body, he wasn't spinning where his great vision couldn't catch glances of his certain demise.
Jin: {I've prayed to my goddess, I've accepted my fate. *Sigh* I really thought I would die in battle. Maybe if I get to heaven I could always teleport out. That would work, right?}
Jin said already prepared for his inevitable death. The height at which he was falling, his acceleration, his speed. Even with a strong body, he would go splat. No regeneration he possessed would help this and adaptation wouldn't work in time. His death would be instant and painless.
However, from another perspective, something was barrelling towards a short girl, at which she looked up at the object, Jin.
???: I can't let such a thing hit someone by accident. I should be able to catch it if I slow it down.
A golden-orange magic circle appeared in front of the short girl, directly in the line of collision where Jin was barrelling towards. Jin had already closed his eyes as he didn't want to see the splat of his own body on the floor. But on the other hand, the girl stood behind the magic circle, ready to catch the falling object as everyone watched, her brother still wandering off without her.
???: {I'm ready!}
The girl thought ready to catch the object barrelling towards her. So as soon as the object, Jin, flew into the magic circle, his entire body slowed down as if there was a parachute now attached to him. Dragging him and decreasing his speed dramatically. But there was something the girl underestimated, the speed at which the object, Jin was shot at. She overestimated her own strength. This wasn't a fastball thrown at her. It hit her in the stomach and sent her flying back as she held tightly onto the object. Feeling how fluffy it was, she realised it wasn't an ordinary object.
Flying back she fell to the ground, on her behind, her dress was dragged along the floor until they stopped. Everyone looked in shock as if the girl caught a meteor. Holding it close to her stomach as she laid back.
???: Miss Phenex are you okay?!
Someone shouted as the girl on the floor looked down at the ball of fluff in her hands, a cute fox that had its eyes tightly closed. The girl looked down at it as she gently smiled, the girl's name Ravel Phenex, softly stroking the fox.
Ravel: Hey~, it's okay. You're safe now~. {It's so cute! But how did it fall from the sky? At such speeds too. Foxes don't fly.}
Ravel looked down at the fox as it gently opened its eyes. Jin realised he wasn't dead. This wasn't Takamagahara. He realised he was on the ground and very much not in heaven. This was most definitely hell, but not the bad kind.
Jin: {I didn't die? I didn't die! LET'S GO! THANK YOU GODDESS INARI!}
Jin thought as he looked around and the world seemed to spin. Spinning so fast wasn't good for his head, but he was glad he wasn't feeling sick. He didn't know how so much food would come out of such a small body. He didn't want to regret eating so many waffles.
Ravel: You shouldn't stand up so fast, I can only imagine how disoriented you must be. {This energy, is it a familiar? It has nine tails so it can't be a normal fox. But why do nine tails remind me of something?}
Ravel thought as she couldn't quite recall what nine tails meant for a fox. She stood up brushing her light purple dress, the dark purple accents in it a bit dirty and the blue bow a bit messy. But feeling her body, she wasn't hurt. She successfully caught Jin.
